After more than 40 years, a man has been arrested and charged with murder in the 1983 death of a Sioux City teen.Thomas Duane Popp was arrested Saturday, Jan. 11, in Cowlitz County, Washington on a charge of first-degree murder.According to a release by Woodbury County Attorney James Loomis, a grand jury was impaneled on Friday, Jan. 10, regarding the cold case murder of then-18-year-old Terri McCauley.McCauley was reported missing by her family after she went out on Sept. 27, 1983, to meet up with friends in downtown Sioux City and never returned home. Her body was discovered in a ditch in early October near 33rd Street off Floyd Boulevard.She had been shot point-blank with a 20-gauge shotgun. A suspect was arrested in an unrelated case, but never charged with McCauley’s murder.Popp was indicted by the grand jury for first-degree murder.He remains in custody in the Cowlitz County Jail in Washington state.
