Would you pay more than $10,000 for a toilet? Toto, a Japan-based luxury toilet manufacturer, hopes so. One of the company's models -- the Actilite series with a washlet arm -- comes with a whopping $12,500 price tag and a number of futuristic features. Even the company's less pricey models, the Neorest or Keane, start at $6,800. The Actilite model is currently available in Japan, but the company opened a London office in 2009 in hopes of breaking into the European market. The bathroom device has options for washing and drying, robot arms and water jets that can spray at different angles and speeds. It’s also self-flushing and self-cleaning. “It’s not like a car wash, you don’t sit down and hope for the best! As you sit down there is a sensor on the seat so it knows you are there. If nothing else you’d notice it’s a heated seat, which is nice, and the deodorizer would work, so it smells good. If you want to wash yourself, you have a remote control with two options,” Floyd Case, UK Specification and Projects Manager of Toto Europe, told BBC UK last week. Toto and Lixil are the top-selling luxury toilet brands in Japan. Last year, the company pulled in 420.3 billion yen, or $365 billion, in revenue, according to its year-end report. Other Toto models are available in the US for as low as $4,250.
