Third grader has a plan to combat bullies: ‘Power buddies’
it all started when, like back in kindergarten, I got like, a little bullied by this one girl in my class. Claire is now in third grade and nine years old. She says bullying hasn't stopped, and she sees kids at her school getting bullied a lot. Me and my friends were starting to get really mad about it. We were like, Well, why are why are they? Why are they being mean? What we want kids to do is to speak out on the spot. Andrea Moor is a licensed clinical social worker at Courageous Corner, she says, by standards, watching or even filming. Bullying is part of the problem, and Claire wanted to be part of the solution. Me and my friends came up with this thing called Power Buddies Power buddies. When they see another kid getting bullied, they get involved. We'll go up to them and we'll try to like, stand up for the kid that's getting bullied and we'll try to help them. And if we can't help them, then we'll go tell a teacher. Utah law requires schools to have policies to deal with bullying situations. More says, if there's even one incident of bullying parents should report it. The theme that just decipher XYZ between bullying and just socializing poorly is repetition, Claire says. When she sees someone getting bullied, it's scary. She doesn't know of getting involved. Well, even make a difference. Or it might turn the bullies on her but says. Fear doesn't stop the power buddies after you do it, it feels really good. I don't know. I just feel like I'm a hero. I did it.
