'Simpsons' fans discover the characters facing forward is nightmare fuel

This is the kind of thing that once you see, you can't unsee

You may never have thought about it, but have you ever noticed that the characters on The Simpsons are almost always facing sideways? There's a very good reason for that: Matt Groening's stylized character designs are very rounded, so catching all their curves from a side-on perspective just works better. That said, they're not always captured from an angle, and fans have been posting the rare times we see the characters head-on, and it's pretty much nightmare fuel:To be fair, some of the screenshots seem to be taken from when the characters are in motion, and the individual frames will appear on-screen for less than a second...But still, the pudgy, googly-eyed designs aren't suited to being looked at head on. They all look so much more aesthetically pleasing from the side.Except Moe, of course. He's always ugly.Still, fans did find one nice example of a Simpsons character looking straight ahead, and unsurprisingly, it's Marge:We did some digging to find more decent looking face-on pictures of the characters, and there's not a whole lot.If you want to terrify yourself even more, check out all The Simpsons examples on TV Tropes' 'Off Model' page.
