The suspect, 18-year-old Salvador Romas, is dead and was likely killed by responding officers, according to Abbott.
The gunman was a resident of the community and entered the school with a handgun, and possibly a rifle, and opened fire, Abbott said.
Two police officers were also shot. They are expected to survive.
Robb Elementary School has an enrollment of just under 600 students, and it serves students in the second, third and fourth grades.
