Senator gives impassioned speech on Senate floor after deadly shooting at Texas elementary school
A U.S. senator from Connecticut gave an impassioned speech on the Senate floor Tuesday afternoon after a deadly shooting at a Texas elementary school.
At least 19 children and a teacher were killed in Uvalde, Texas, after an 18-year-old shooter went inside the school, according to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
Sen. Chris Murphy spoke for more than two minutes.
"What are we doing?" Murphy said. "What are we doing? Just days after a shooter walked into a grocery store to gun down African American patrons, we have another Sandy Hook on our hands. What are we doing?"
There were 26 who died in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, in December 2012, which included 20 children.
