Super Bowl champion Cooper DeJean to host charity softball game with Iowa Cubs
Former Iowa Hawkeye and current Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Cooper DeJean will be hosting a softball game in Des Moines this summer.
The Odebolt native is teaming up with Octane Sports to host an All-Star Charity game.
The Iowa Cubs announced the event on Monday.
DeJean will be the captain of one of the teams, while his former teammate, Riley Moss, will lead the other.
Organizers say there will be a memorabilia auction as well.
"We try to make the ballpark the gathering place for the big events in the community," said Randy Wehofer, assistant general manager for Iowa Cubs. "Whether it's concerts and baseball games and nonprofit organizations ... this is just another opportunity for us to be that gathering place in the community."
The game is set for June 1 at Principal Park. Proceeds will go to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
