Clayton: Back in my Pee Wee league I got the ball once. That didn't go so well for me." Days before Friday's regular season finale, Coach Rob Luther had the team practice a play with all eleven seniors on the field and clayton scoring a TD. Bryce: His dream his whole life has been to score a TD. Then came friday's senior night. STANDUP - Clayton did get that chance. When he got the ball. He blew it! The team was beating Centerville 30-0. Clayton had four straight chances to score from inside the five, and... Clayton "I don't get it. The adrenaline was going and I was scared. They knew I was getting the ball. They said 70 is getting the ball. and I'm like 'I'm gonna die here.' I didnt die but I didn't get the TD. My heart melted. Coach: "I told them hey you had your chance. Great job. No big deal." But it was a big deal to Bryce Kemp. Bryce: "We have friends ever since second grade. He is always about the team." There was still time. The defense forced Centerville to punt. Bryce: "Back on that punt return I was thinking 'if I could do just one thing just to get him back on that goal line to be able to score.' Scott: You weren't gonna get tackled were you? Bryce - No COACH: "They punt to us. Bryce makes a great move. It's evident he's gonna go the distance. Clayton: "He's got the opp to break it open. I thought he was gonna walk in the TD. My reaction was the same as everyone else. I'm like 'What's he doing?' Coach: Just about when he's ready to go into the endzone, I see a pop slide. I get wound up. I thought it was hotdogging. That's not like Bryce. He's the most humble kid. I am wound up. The next thing I know it dawned on me." CLAYTON: "He comes up to me right after that and he says that was for you. lets go get one now.' I was like 'allright. lets go do it.' THIS TIME? Coach: I knew he was gonna score they were so excited." NATS - TOUCHDOWN CLAYTON: I went crazy after I scored. It was a great feeling. The greatest I have ever had. It was pretty awesome." A top player being scouted needs all the touchdowns he can get. KEMP: "It's a TD. Stats whatever look cool." but some stats will never show up in a boxscore. Kemp: I was doing that for clayton He's been my friend forever. I wanted that for him." And that lineman who went unnoticed? Clayton: I have been walking around the hallway and I hear 'Nice TD!'
