It's your spring break travel guide. Some members of our Hearst television team sharing tips to make sure your vacation is stress free. First, our producer Ali is helping you map out your trip. Apple Maps and Google Maps both have *** feature that let you download maps offline. That way if you end up in an area where you don't really have reliable cell service, you can still figure out where you need to go. So I'm going to show you exactly. How it works over on my phone. You're going to click over here and you're going to type in your destination. I'm just going to hit New York. OK, then you're going to hit this button that says download. So next what you're going to do, you're going to adjust it, basically zoom in over the area that you want to save, then you're going to hit download again and this is going to download your offline map. It's just going to take *** couple seconds to download. So I'm going to go on airplane mode. You see my Wi Fi's off. Now I'm gonna go back into the app and look, my offline map is right there. So now I can still use the same features, search *** destination, type it in, and get directions for where you need to go. With the planning complete, let's pack like *** pro before you get to the airport. By now you probably already know about the TSA's 311 rule when it comes to carry-on bags. Liquids have to be 3.4 ounces or less, and all containers have to be packed in one clear quart size bag, and you get one per passenger. But here's something else to think about pack essentials like *** toothbrush and medication, for example, even an extra set of clothes in either your carry-on bag or your carry-on suitcase. That way you have what you need if your flight is canceled or delayed. And that's important because if your flight is canceled or severely delayed, you likely won't be able to access your checked luggage until you reach your final destination. So make sure you don't get stranded for the night without the things you really need. Programs like TSA PreCheck and Clear can help you get through security faster, but if you don't have those, some airports have *** free service where you can reserve your own time slot in the security line. Orlando International Airport is one of them, and that's where we find Christina Watkins from our sister station West 2. Reserve is *** free program powered by Clear where you can schedule ahead of time when you want to go through airport security. It's really easy. You can go to Clear's website. Use their free app. All you have to do is open the app, put in your flight information, your name, people traveling with you, and when you want to go through security. Once you do that, you'll get *** QR code and when you get to the airport, you'll go to the specific reserve lane, show them that QR code, and then that's it. Really easy. how far advance you book depends on the airport, so be sure to check. It's also helpful to look up your destination airport ahead of time. That way you know where to go if you need to rent *** car or find designated pickup locations for rideshare and taxis. Reporting in Washington, I'm Amy Lowe.
