How did we not think of this sooner?

On the grill, hot dogs have a mind of their own. As hard as you try to turn them all at the same, they roll around like crazy and burn on one side. The same goes for asparagus, which have a nasty tendency to fall through the grates. When you really think of it, most food is annoying to flip on the grill. That is, until you try this simple skewer hack — it changes everything. It sounds dramatic, but it's true. When everything is cooking evenly, without a bunch of attention or hassle, grilling is so much more fun. The trick is simple. For longer foods, like hot dogs or asparagus, pierce two skewers crosswise into the food to create a tall stack. With the exception of how easy it is to flip the foods, the grilling process stays the same. How easy skewering the food is will depend on the food. For hot dogs, you can lay them all down, stacked on top of each other, and easily stick the skewers into all the franks at once. (See video above.) The asparagus takes a bit more patience since they break more easily, so you need to work one spear at a time. When it comes to shorter foods, like onions, you'll only need to stick one skewer into the center. The same would go for zucchini coins or peaches, if you're into that sort of thing.
