Six women turned up at a wedding wearing the same dress
And no, they weren't the bridesmaids
And no, they weren't the bridesmaids
It's every wedding guest's living nightmare - turning up wearing the same outfit as someone else.
So imagine the sheer horror of these poor six women who arrived at their friend's big day in the exact same Forever New dress.
SIX.
Luckily, the bride Julia Mammone - who was tying the knot in Sydney to her personal trainer partner Dominic - was able to see the funny side, telling the : "I’ve heard of two women, maybe three, wearing the same dress, but six? You couldn’t make it up."
She added, "Even the bridesmaids, who spent double, $300 on Shona Joy dresses, found it hilarious. Some people think it’s a publicity stunt for Portmans. I’ve been waiting for this day for three years – why would I pimp my wedding out for them?"
The inadvertent fashion faux pas prompted one of its victims Debbie Speranza to post a picture of herself and the other five guests in their matching attire posing with the bride on Forever New's Facebook page.
She jokingly suggested the brand start a bridal registry so that customers can find out whether anyone else has purchased one of their dresses for the same event.
The post went viral after acquiring 41,000 likes and 10,000 comments, with Debbie adding to the publication, "I turned up and did a double take when I saw my cousin in the same dress and she mouthed ‘oh my god’ back at me from the other side of the reception room. Next thing we knew there were four others in the same friggin dress. What a bloody nightmare. Some of us have been trolled on Facebook but we all found it hysterical.”
May this be a lesson to us all - check with your friends before showing up to a party in a popular dress!
