'She is an angel now': Woman creates infant burial gowns from wedding dresses
A Wisconsin woman is helping families experiencing infant loss one dress at a time.
Anny Schepp, who works from her suburban Madison home has sewn more than 100 burial outfits she calls “angel gowns” for stillborn, miscarried and newborn babies that are made from wedding and bridesmaids' dresses, .
"They say, 'I'll never get to see my daughter go to prom, her wedding'. Well I can make that happen in a sense," she said.
Schepp’s gowns come from her own loss. Her adult daughter Pamela died of a brain aneurysm in 2011, and she sews in her memory.
“Pamela wanted me to sew, so that’s what I’m doing,” she said.
Family members who’ve received the gowns are appreciative.
"It meant everything because she is an angel now, and the gown was absolutely beautiful," Betty Erickson told WISC-TV.
Erickson's granddaughter Victoria received an angel gown after she died of SIDS two years ago.
“Knowing that maybe when she crossed over, maybe her daughter recognized her gown and maybe she will hold my baby for me now," she said.
