You've probably heard of schools calling in therapy dogs after a shooting or another tragic event in order to comfort students. Now, companies are taking the concept one step further and training dogs to intervene during school shootings.
in Norco, California, and of Chariton, Iowa are training dogs to take down active shooters. Here's a video of the dogs participating in drills.
In the video, dogs bring "shooters" to the ground and also help police actually locate targets.

After the in Parkland, Florida, where 17 students were killed, advocated for active shooting dogs to be placed not only in the district's schools, but also in schools around the country.
This isn't the only tactic educators are using to prepare students for active shooter situations. Kindergartners in one Massachusetts school are learning nursery rhymes to help them know what to do during a shooting.
