Rossen Reports: Will these fast food apps save us time & money?
ah yeah, my family loves fast food, you name it, we order it probably on a daily basis now. Fast food chains are advertising ordering on their app saying download the app. You get your food faster. But is it really and even better, is it cheaper? Do you save money? So I decided I gotta test this out for you. Of course it's just for you. It's the rossen reports. Fast food race. Mhm. We're putting three fast food chains to the test. Mcdonald's Panera and chick fil a Okay, so here's the setup. This is my producer kelly kelly and I are going to be in the race together. We are both going to order the same food from the same fast food restaurants except one big difference. I am going to order using the apps for the restaurants and then kelly you're going to order the same stuff, yep, I'm gonna order the same stuff but I'm gonna do what you would normally do, drive to the restaurant, get in line place your order and wait for it and we'll see which one is faster if the app is faster like they say and which one's cheaper. Ready to roll, let's go do it. First up, a favorite for the fries. Mcdonald's come on into the app, here's the app. Right here, I'm gonna open the Mcdonald's app and if you see right here on the bottom rewards and deals? Right, that's what I'm going to hit here are the deals? I'm going to view all of them now. Look at all these deals you can get and I like this one, the free 10 piece chicken McNuggets with a minimum purchase of $1. So I'm gonna hit that and I am going to use at the restaurant I'm gonna use the deal. I'm just gonna buy a large fry and then I should get my McNuggets and I'm on my way to Mcdonald's. When I arrived they handed right to me. That was easy. Thanks. Now Kelly's gonna order the normal way to do it all and then we'll compare notes. She orders her meal inside McDonald's, mine took eight minutes and 15 seconds ordering on the app and just going to pick up. What about you? Mine was much longer. It took me 15 minutes and 56 seconds. You had a line we had a huge line that we had to wait through. Okay, money wise mind costs with before tax $4.59 for the 10 piece chicken Mcnugget and a large fry with the deal. I got, wow! Mind costs $9.78. Alright, so the app faster and cheaper. Next up Panera so there's the Panera bread app. I'm gonna hit that and this is a little different than Mcdonald's in that. You look at this rewards and offers, you hit that. There are no offers available. Check back later. This is one of those where you have to build up points unlike Mcdonald's where you get offers right away. I order a sandwich and I'm on my way and it's already waiting for me right there on the rapid pickup show here it is, kelly's turn ordering the normal way. Get a roasted turkey, avocado sandwich. Just waiting. They make my food drum roll for the results. It took me five minutes and 29 seconds from the moment I ordered to drive there and grab it. 5 29. What about you? Um I was a little bit longer. I had to sit there and wait for my order and it took me about nine minutes. Okay, not terrible, not terrible, but almost double the amount of time. Right, okay. For price. Mind cost 11 99 on the app. Same 1199 in person. Finally chick fil a no rewards right away on this app either. I haven't built up enough points but I'm still hungry. Let's order a meal. Shall we do the chick fil a sandwich meal? Head to the order. But this time just for fun, we're picking up the orders in the drive thru lane and get it. Great. Thanks bye for my model order. Thank you so much. Thanks. I don't have that r kelly your turn. Can I get a chicken sandwich meal? Let's compare notes. So chick fil a took me 19 minutes and 40 seconds from the time I ordered on the app to get there and get my food. What about you know? Mine was about a little bit longer. Mine was 20 minutes and 43 seconds. So just just a minute longer. Not bad. My price was $8.49. Okay, so basically for chick fil a, it was the same. Okay, so here's the recap in our experiment at chick fil a and Panera, ordering on the app saved us some time, but ordering on the Mcdonald's app saved us time and money right away. The sandwich meal. My free McNuggets, We're gonna put this story and some bonus fast food tips on how to save a couple of bucks at these chains. Maybe some others, no promises, but maybe some others. It's on my website, Rawson Reports dot com. Back to you.
