Ron DeSantis draws large crowd in Ankeny during Never Back Down meet-and-greet
Florida Gov. and presidential candidate Ron DeSantis ended his third meet-and-greet event in Ankeny on Tuesday to a crowd that packed Jethro's BBQ.
The meet-and-greets were hosted by Never Back Down. DeSantis began Tuesday in Cedar Rapids, then traveled to Mason City, and ended in Ankeny that evening.
People filled the restaurant in Ankeny, as DeSantis spoke for 15 minutes before sitting down and taking questions.
During the event, DeSantis urged Iowans to caucus for him.
"Hopefully, we earned your support tonight, but if we did, I think it's not just about you caucusing," said DeSantis. "I think it's about rallying other people to want it, too."
vlog spoke with DeSantis one-on-one prior to the meet-and-greet about his campaign strategy in Iowa as Christmas approaches.
"We're going to go up until probably a couple of days before Christmas," said DeSantis. "We've got young kids, and so we've got to make sure that they have a good Christmas. We're going to spend that together as a family back in Florida, and then shortly thereafter, we're going to be right back up on the road doing campaigning and continuing to bring more support in."
