Rescue dog wins Drake University's Beautiful Bulldog Contest
The Most Beautiful Bulldog Contest has crowned its 2021 winner: Myrtle Mae.
Whitney Bagdanski, a 2003 Drake alumni, began fostering Myrtle Mae in 2020 before adopting her last month. Myrtle Mae requires special attention, as she is epileptic.
“She wanted to be loved and it was so easy to love her,” Whitney Bogdanski said. “We gave her a lot of love and she opened up.”
Myrtle Mae was one of 20 English bulldogs to participate in the pageant on Sunday. Hundreds attended the Most Beautiful Bulldog Contest at Drake University.
Best Dressed went to Maverick, owned by Samantha Thompson of St. Charles, Missouri. Maverick featured a Top Gun outfit with a cardboard plane.
The Drake Spirit Award went to Little Millie, owned by Alex and Amanda Mason, who wore a blue and white tutu.
The Rescue Dog Recognition Award was given to Meaty, owned by Elizabeth McCulloch of West Des Moines.
The People's Choice Award, voted on by attendees, went to Samson Jameson Bronson, owned by Robyn Bronson of Independence, Missouri.
