Republicans meet with Musk and Ramaswamy on government efficiency
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy are meeting with Republicans on Capitol Hill today to discuss government efficiency reforms.
President-elect Donald Trump has tasked the two entrepreneurs with leading an advisory committee called the Department of Government Efficiency.
House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed enthusiasm about the meeting, as the group aims to reduce spending and regulations.
U.S. Rep. Steve Womack supports the initiative but cautions about the challenges in achieving significant savings.
"We're always looking for ways that we can save the government money, but this is going to be a challenge for us to find the kind of savings that's going to result in the aggregate amounts that we're talking about - the better part of $2 trillion," Womack said.
Critics, however, worry that such cutbacks could negatively impact essential services.
