Public health alert issued for pork sold at Aldi
The U.S. Department of Agriculture issued a public health alert on fully cooked pork carnitas sold at Aldi. According to the alert, 16-ounce sleeved tray packages containing "Pork Carnitas SEASONED & SEARED PORK WITH JUICES SLOW COOKED WITH CITRUS" may be contaminated with metal pieces.Cargill Meat Solutions produced the food on April 1 and 2 and distributed it at Aldi stores nationwide. This product is no longer available at any Aldi supermarket. However, the FDA issued a public health alert because it is worried consumers still have it in their refrigerators.The sell-by dates listed on the packaging are June 30 or July 1. If you have this contaminated product, you should throw it away or return it to the store.
