President Donald Trump signed executive orders that could lead to a transgender ban in the military, reinstate service members discharged for refusing COVID-19 vaccines, roll back diversity programs, and develop a space-based missile defense system.
"We're forging a new political majority that's shattering and replacing Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal coalition," Trump said as he met with House Republicans at his Miami golf resort to strategize on implementing his agenda.
"We have no apologies and we're moving very fast," Trump said.
Trump also fired Justice Department prosecutors who investigated him and more than a dozen inspectors general without proper due notice.
"This is a chilling, potentially unlawful decision by the president. It's a reminder that if there's anything President Trump fears most, it's accountability," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said.
The Senate confirmed Scott Bessent as Treasury Secretary, adding another key member to Trump's cabinet.
This week, the Senate will hold confirmation hearings for three controversial picks: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead Health and Human Services, Tulsi Gabbard to lead National Intelligence, and Kash Patel to lead the FBI.
The Senate will vote today to confirm Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
