President Biden calls, praises school leaders for implementing mask mandates

mm Good afternoon. I know there are a lot of people out there trying to turn a public safety measure that as Children were in mass in school so they can be safe into a political dispute and that this isn't about politics. It's about keeping our Children safe. I saw a video and reports from the Tennessee of protesters threatening doctors and nurses or before school board making the case that they keep kids safe. There should be mandatory masks. And as they walked out, these doctors are threatened. The nurses are threatened in our health care. Workers are heroes. There were the heroes when there was no vaccine. Many gave their lives trying to save others and their heroes. Again with the vaccine, they're doing their best to care for the people refusing to get vaccinated. An unvaccinated folks are being hospitalized and dying as a result of not being vaccinated to the mayor's school superintendents, educators, local leaders who are standing up to the governor's politicizing mass protection for our kids. Thank you. Thank you as well. Thank God that we have heroes like you and I stand with you all and America should as well.

Ron DeSantis over how his state's schools should operate as the COVID-19 pandemic worsens in the state. The Biden administration has promised Broward federal money if Florida's governor carries out a threat to withhold some state funds from any school district that imposes a mask mandate.Using a law passed this year, DeSantis has barred schools and other local governments from imposing mask mandates. The governor has said he believes masks are not needed for children, who are less likely than adults to catch the coronavirus, and that they interfere with learning. He also has said it should be up to parents to determine if their child wears a mask. The state's board of education recently said students forced to wear masks over their parents’ objections could be eligible for a voucher that would pay for their transfer to a private school.Broward school officials did not respond to an email Saturday seeking comment.
