Sarahah, an app created by , has been sitting at the number one spot in Apple's App Store . Sarahah, which loosely means "honesty" in Arabic, allows registered users to send and receive anonymous comments, or "constructive criticism."
"Sarahah helps you in discovering your strengths and areas for improvement by receiving honest feedback from your employees and your friends in a private manner," the app's description says.
Here's how it works:
, you can choose to receive comments from anyone or only other Sarahah users by sharing your personal link. The app then saves comments you've sent, received and liked. Users can't see feedback received by other people, nor are they able to respond to messages.
But Sarahah has received some criticism - it currently has a in the iOS store. While many negative ratings address the app's "poor execution" or "crashing," some users believe the anonymity of Sarahah may open the door to cyberbullying.
"The ideas of this app is great," says user AmandaGR. "But people are not so great. If have [sic] seen countless numbers of mean rude and very awful comments."
