Police in Pennsylvania said they are investigating an incident at a school in which they said a 14-year-old girl with a severe pineapple allergy was intentionally exposed to the fruit by another student.

The victim was taken to the hospital after being exposed to the pineapple and was treated and released the same day, police said.

Two other girls, ages 13 and 14, were charged with conspiracy and other offenses.
The girls were not identified because they are juveniles.
The Butler Area School District released the following statement Thursday afternoon:

When that does not occur, the district will take appropriate disciplinary action and, if appropriate, contact law enforcement."
