This little-known rule changes EVERYTHING...

As Christmas approaches, you can bet kids (young and old) across the land are getting ready to dust off their Monopoly sets and be unashamedly competitive with their families. And, as we're sure is the case in your household, most of us have been playing the classic board game for so long we hardly need reminding about the rules. In fact, we're fairly sure we've never actually read the rulebook...Well, now we're regretting that oversight big time, because a viral post on a little-known Monopoly rule has literally just changed EVERYTHING. And we can't help but think we would have won a lot more games if we'd known about this...Yep, Twitter user Ruben revealed on November 20: "When someone lands on a property in Monopoly & they don't buy it, IT GOES TO AUCTION for any player to buy. IT. IS. IN. THE. RULES."Wow.Please tell us we weren't the only ones who didn't know this?Well, it would appear we're probably not alone because Ruben soon heard from seasoned Monopoly players whose minds were officially blown. "Holy MOLY," wrote one, while another added: "TOP TIP."And, before you start questioning Ruben's information, The Sun double checked the Monopoly rulebook and – it's true!Apparently, the manual reads: "If the player lands on an unowned property, whether street, railroad, or utility, they can buy the property for its listed purchase price."If they decline this purchase, the property is auctioned off by the bank to the highest bidder, including the player who declined to buy."This little-known rule will speed things up so much, and add a whole new level of strategy to proceedings, as we're sure any self-respecting Monopoly fan would agree. Anyone else feel like they need to buy a new set of Monopoly for Christmas, just so they can have a proper look at the rulebook!?
