On Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl, which airs on , rescue dogs from across the country face off on Team Ruff vs. Team Fluff. And one member of Team Fluff’s starting lineup had to beat some incredible odds to get there.
Olympia, a Great Pyrenees puppy, was abandoned in the Ozarks in Missouri and left outside a gas station with her sister inside a plastic container, says Sarah Fostello of Big Fluffy Dog Rescue, which came to her aid. Sadly, her sister didn’t make it, and Olympia went from foster home to foster home until the Puppy Bowl came calling.
She joined 91 other rescue puppies from 51 shelters in 26 states for the annual Animal Planet show, which filmed in New York City. During the taping, Olympia loved to show off the tricks she learned and loved to snuggle with any human she saw.
Happily, Olympia has now been adopted, and lives on Deer Island in Maine with her forever family. “She’s funny, friendly, sweet, and loves to play with other dogs. She likes to hoard toys, and [you can] find every toy in the house in her crate,” Fostello tells CountryLiving.com. “Olympia’s too young to do agility, but she’s in pretraining, and she knows a lot of commands. She’s going to do agility competitions.” Turns out Puppy Bowl glory just isn’t enough for Olympia.
If you're interested in adopting a Great Pyrenees like Olympia, consider adopting a pet from a rescue group or shelter rather than buying from a pet store or puppy mill. You can check out Big Fluffy Dog Rescue at , or check out all adoptable dogs in your area at .
