Reports the cast of the Jersey Shore have been filming some kind of reunion special in Asbury Park and Point Pleasant, New Jersey, have been growing over the past month. It's important to note MTV has any filming taking place is not an "MTV project," but that doesn't mean the footage won't make it to air some way, somehow.
Here is what we know so far:
1. The mayor of Asbury Park told the the cast had indeed been there.
"We did not know they were coming as they applied [for filming permits] under 'Roadtrip Reunion,'“ John Moor said. "They’ve been reading the paper and they know Asbury Park is the place to be."
2. They've got filming permits.
The permit (applied for by production company Bright Road Productions) that was approved allowed them to film on the boardwalk and the beach area, city officials told the APP.
3. They applied for — but were denied — a permit to film in Seaside Heights.
Borough Administrator Christopher Vaz said Bright Road also applied for a permit where the Shore House is, but were rejected. Entertainment director for Langosta Lounge said: “They called 10 days before they wanted to film and we said no freaking way, it’ll be bad publicity ... Bring those meatheads to the Langosta Lounge? No way.”
4. They went to Jenkinson's Boardwalk.
The Director of Marketing for the Point Pleasant, NJ boardwalk part of the cast had a "low-key" dinner there on June 16 and that they played games afterwards.
5. People have literally seen them filming.
Throughout June and July, people have been tweeting about cast member sightings on or near the boardwalk.
6. The cast themselves have hinted at filming.
As evidenced by The Situation's screen grab of this article titled "They're baaaack! 'Jersey Shore' cast returns to NJ to film reunion show." Caption? "We have a Situation 🇮🇹😉GTL."
As also evidenced by Deena's tweet of her, JWoww, Sammi, and Snooki together for the first time possibly . Caption? "Lovebugs @snooki @JENNIWOWW @SammiSweetheart."
As further evidenced by Snooki's stunning Instagram of the same photo. Caption? "REUNION TIME💃🏽❤"
(Holy shit.)
7. And they've outright expressed interest in a reunion in the recent past.
Snooki told just last month that, "Yes!" a reunion is not out of the question, "but not for a long time because I have kids. Like for a week."
