Millions of people across the nation make parents proud. This time of year, *** time for caps and gowns, turning tassels and diplomas. But for Douglas Hernandez watching his daughter graduate was *** moment. He simply could not miss again, I get an email that says I have *** daughter going to be graduating in May and I'm overseas and I wanted to know if there's *** way that I could surprise her. So after months of planning on Friday night, as UNLV students prepared to walk across the stage, excitement was building for *** secret operation going on behind the scenes. Hernandez traveled more than 30 hours from where he's stationed in the Middle East to surprise his little girl, Pamela. The two hadn't seen each other since July. We have *** very special surprise. Pamela is being greeted by her father, *** US navy petty officer. Second class was me. Oversee it my heart. I mean, I was like shaking. I couldn't believe it. Pamela says having *** father in the military means sometimes missing out on birthdays, holidays and yes graduations together, which is why this reunion is so meaningful. I'm just happy to be here. I'm happy to have my dad here and I'm happy to start *** new chapter in life. *** heartwarming reminder of the sacrifices that military families make for our country and the importance of cherishing every moment with our loved ones.

Pamela Hernandez was excited to walk across the stage at her college graduation, but the moment got even sweeter when her military father was able to travel from overseas to surprise her at the ceremony.After months of planning behind the scenes, Douglas Hernandez traveled more than 30 hours to reunite with his daughter — who he hadn't seen in months — during commencement at the University of Las Vegas. "Everybody we have a very special surprise," the audience heard during an announcement during the ceremony. "Pamela is being greeted by her father, a U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class who has made the trip from overseas to see his daughter graduate."Pamela Hernandez told KTNV that she was used to her father missing special moments at times due to his military service and was completely caught off guard to see him at her graduation. "My heart sank. I mean, I was like, shaking! I couldn't believe it," she said. "I'm just happy to be here.
