Martha Stewart has launched her own wine company

Pass the bottle, Martha!

Martha Stewart has met all of our home and entertaining needs over the years, serving up fresh ideas and, more recently, fresh meals by way of her Marley Spoon delivery services. But what makes all of those nice things even nicer? Enjoying them with a good glass of wine. The Emmy Award-winning TV host and entrepreneur has just launched Martha Stewart Wine Co. in collaboration with DRINKS, a wine delivery marketing company, to bring delicious sips right to your doorstep. This means you can order from curated selections of seasonal wines, choose how many bottles you'd like, and wait for your vino to arrive, glass in hand. If you're not a fan of ordering and re-ordering, you can sign up for a monthly wine club for automatic delivery. "Wine has played an important role in that part of my life focused on entertaining and teaching others how to entertain," Stewart said in a statement. "With the launch of this fabulous online wine shop, I am confident that we can teach consumers how to pour the right wine, and enjoy the right wine, at every occasion."In case you need a few more pointers, tips on pour techniques, stemware and etiquette will also be available through articles on the company's website. But how is the "right wine" chosen? Tasty and budget-friendly wines are selected by an expert panel, including Chris Hoel, who is the former sommelier of The French Laundry, and an in-house winemaker who consulted with wine merchants globally to create a selection of wines that taste great and pair well with food. And, of course, when it comes to food and wine, Stewart has been around the block and back. "Over the years, I've had the great pleasure of tasting some extraordinarily delicious wines," Stewart says on her website. "And I learned that as you try more varieties, you gain lots of insight into the 'right' wine for your taste."Right now, there's a wide variety of vino from reds to whites to sparkling on the Martha Stewart Wine Co. website, but some marked as "Martha's Favorites" include a 2013 Sierra Trails Old Vines Zinfandel ($12.49), a 2016 Racine Côtes de Provence Rosé ($17.99) and a 2015 Marquis de Bacalan Sauvignon Blanc ($16.99). In 2007, Stewart's former publicly traded company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, also partnered with wine producer E&J Gallo Winery in a very different venture to create a wine brand that sold bottles for $15 each under a "Martha Stewart Vintage" label. However, that venture was short-lived, according to Fortune. Stewart is by no means the first celeb to break into the profitable liquor business — in fact, it seems to be becoming a bit of a trend. Other stars who have entered the booze biz include George Clooney (Casamigos), Dave Matthews (The Dreaming Tree), Bethenny Frankel (Skinnygirl) and David Beckham (Haig Club). But a wine delivery service with sips approved by Martha? We'll cheers twice to that.
