It's that if two people hate the same things, they'll bond over them — for example, if two people both hate a certain TV show, they'll have a better shot of being friends because there's nothing like mutual disdain for something, right?
The dating app bases part of its business model on this theory. By asking its love-seekers to rate whether they love, like, dislike or hate random things, they match two people who have responded similarly. Since the app launched nationwide in February 2017, Hater's users have logged millions of hates and dislikes — info that Hater has now turned into a pretty interesting map featuring "hate by state."
What's most hilarious about this map is how specific some of this information is. What happened in Nebraskan workplaces that made everyone hate "Friendly Reminder" emails so much? And it seems like folks in Kentucky have had too many friends ask them to help with moving.
