The name originates from the late 17th century in London when *** literary club met at *** shop owned by pastry chef Christopher Catling. The group was called the Kit Kat Club and took its name from an abbreviated version of the owner's name. The candy first showed up in 1935 but wasn't officially christened as the Kit Kat until 1937.

Earlier this summer, the internet collectively decided Haley Byrd had to dump her boyfriend Evan Wilt — for eating a Kit Kat incorrectly.Little did we all know, Evan jumped into action after going viral and began working with Kit Kat to create a perfect proposal — one that would not only acknowledge the saga they'd endured as a couple, but one that would also forever cement the candy's special role in their relationship.Both Haley and Kit Kat confirmed the couple's Washington D.C. engagement that took place July 4. Officials with the company explained they'd 3D-printed a custom Kit Kat ring box, and Haley explained "he still doesn’t know how to eat a Kit Kat." But she included gorgeous proposal pictures to clarify that she said yes, despite that fact.To top it all off, the ordeal became a Twitter moment, making that two for the couple in just about a month.
