“I don’t think I have reconciled it, honestly, because it’s very upsetting and disappointing"

In a recent Q&A with Buzzfeed, Katie Couric said that she's still struggling to come to terms with the sexual harassment allegations against Matt Lauer, her former "Today" co-host.“I don’t think I have reconciled it, honestly, because it’s very upsetting and disappointing. I also really don’t know the details of these incidents still,” Couric said Tuesday. “And I think a lot of people who worked on the show when I was there, and when Matt and I did the 'Today' show, don’t really understand the extent of these incidents or what exactly happened and, you know, separating truth from fiction.”Couric also went on Buzzfeed's "AM to DM Show," where she spoke broadly about the #MeToo movement and said she doesn't have "any one-size-fits-all way of understanding a situation."Lauer was fired from NBC in November after a female staff member filed a complaint accusing him of inappropriate sexual behavior. Several other women came forward with accusations of inappropriate behavior by Lauer, including one incident in 2001 where he allegedly sexually assaulted a staff member in his office. In January, Couric told People magazine that the entire situation was "very painful" for her.“The accounts I’ve read and heard have been disturbing, distressing and disorienting and it’s completely unacceptable that any woman at the 'Today' show experienced this kind of treatment.“I had no idea this was going on during my tenure or after I left,” she continued. “I think I speak for many of my former colleagues when I say this was not the Matt we knew. Matt was a kind and generous colleague who treated me with respect."Since the allegations surfaced, Lauer has gotten divorced from his wife, Annette Roque, and listed his Manhattan and Hamptons homes for sale (though he's reportedly been "laying low" in another Hamptons home). But according to Page Six, he may be preparing a return to the spotlight. “Lauer is said to be testing the waters for a public comeback by coming out of hiding from his Hamptons home. With his marriage to Annette Roque now over, he’s ready to restart his life, pals say,” the article reads.
