traffic jams are not the norm in des Moines, especially in the north side neighborhood of Oak Park. But during the holidays, the 15,000 luminaries surrounding 80 city blocks of Oak Park lead you to this gingerbread like home of john Williams. His display represents 7000 lights and two days of work, no matter what it costs, no matter what your utilities are. You know, you don't count any of those things. The enjoyment that all these folks get is really great cars come in *** steady stream to see the house that's been featured in magazines and has won awards for its design, which by the way, changes every year. This season has an angel on the roof. Last year was *** dove for Williams. That's all part of the fun. Everything comes down and it goes up in *** different way and that's where it's exciting. The lights in his backyard tree, they reach about 85 ft in the air with *** beacon on top stretching to 100 ft And yes, Williams climbs the entire way the neighbors start taking wages and things are keeping or when I go up in the tree each year, then they kind of take the video so they can probably send it into the home funniest videos or whatever display is all part of community building. Reaching out to all the oak park neighbors lights and luminaries mark the neighborhood and are testament to the area's spirit. Well, that's all well and good. The lights do spark some competition.
