At 31 years old, Christina Crowley loves to stay active. That changed last year on Aug. 29.
"My cancer is different than some other cancer journeys. I got sent to the ER and started chemo immediately," Crowley said.
Crowley started a blog about her battle against lymphoma. She shared that some days were tough.
"It was pretty terrible. Just feeling so sick to be stuck on the couch, even just feeling helpless to help out around the house and needing a lot of support," Crowley said.
After four months and six rounds of chemotherapy, her family and friends were there as she rang the bell after her last round. Her recovery process started after treatment. She went back to work and started training for a 5K in February.
"Some days it was just walking to the corner and back from my house. Some days I was walking a quarter of a mile and be like, 'OK, that's enough.' Go back to the couch. But slowly building up that mileage," Crowley said.
Crowley finished the 5K Saturday morning with family and friends by her side. She hopes for another victory on Wednesday when she finds out whether or not she's cancer-free.
