THAT’S COMING IN THE EIGHT DAY FORECAST THAT WILL BE HERE IN A LITTLE BIT, LAURA. AND THANK YOU. WILL CRUISE ACROSS IOWA ARE WORKING TO GET THE ROADS BACK TO NORMAL AFTER THIS WEEK’S MAJOR SNOWSTORM. vlog IS ETHAN HUMBLE IS LIVE HERE IN DES MOINES WITH THE MESSAGE FROM ONE CITY SNOWPLOW DRIVER THIS WINTER SEASON. YES, JODI LARS, YOU CAN SEE BEHIND ME THE ROADS RIGHT HERE IN DES MOINES. THEY’RE MOSTLY CLEARED OFF, MAKING THEIR WAY ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE METRO. BUT AS THE CITY SAYS, THERE ARE STILL PLENTY YOU CAN DO TO MAKE SURE THEY STAY THAT WAY AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. EVEN THOUGH THE SNOWFALL HAS TAKEN A BREAK, THE PLOWS ON THE STREETS ARE WORKING OVERTIME. JERRY GALVIN, A SNOW PLOW DRIVER IN DES MOINES FOR OVER TEN YEARS, HAS BEEN WORKING SINCE THE PRECIPITATION STARTED MONDAY EVENING. WHEN THAT STORM CAME IN NICE, HARD. AND THAT’S WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTED. THE PROBLEMS, HE SAYS, ARE COMING FROM DRIVERS NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE PLOWS MAKING THEIR WAY DOWN THE ROADS. THE OTHER DRIVERS OUT THERE, THEY DON’T PAY NO ATTENTION TO YOU. THEY THINK THAT THEY OWN THE ROAD. BUT WE’RE HERE SO THAT THEY CAN GO HOME TO THEIR FAMILIES EVERY NIGHT. GALVIN USUALLY CLEARS A ROUTE, PASSING THROUGH INGERSOLL GRAND AND UNIVERSITY IN DOWNTOWN DES MOINES. IT’S A SPOT, HE SAYS HE OFTEN SEES DRIVERS IN A HURRY. MOST OF THE TIME, THEY’RE IN A RUSH TO GET HOME INSTEAD OF TAKING THAT EXTRA FIVE MINUTES TO GET HOME SO THEY CAN BE. SAFE, HE SAYS. IT’S ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT TO KEEP YOR PARKED CARS OFF THE ROAD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. GET YOUR CARS MOVED, AND THAT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE FOR US. NOT ONLY THAT, WE DON’T WANT TO RUN INTO IT BECAUSE WHEN YOU DO HIT PATCHES OF ICE, WE HAVE NO CONTROL. WITH EVEN MORE SNOW EXPECTED LATER THIS WEEK, GALVIN SAYS THE TEAM WILL BE READY FOR WHAT’S TO COME. THE GUYS, THIS IS A WAKE UP CALL FOR THEM. SO WE’RE I THINK WE’RE GOOD TO GO. AND THE CITY SAYS THAT IT’S THEIR GOAL TO HAVE ALL OF THESE DES MOINES ROADWAYS CLEARED OFF WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE LAST SNOW FLAKE HITTING THE SURFACE, AND THEY ALMOST HIT THAT GOAL COMING JUST ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATE TODAY AT ABOUT 320 THIS AFTERNOON. BOONE THE AVERAGE DURATION. OF TIME TO GET ALL THE ROADS CLEANED UP IS ABOUT 14 HOURS, AND WE’LL SEE HOW THEY DO ON THEIR NEXT SNOWFALL WITH THE NEXT MAJOR ONE EXPECTED TO COME TOMORROW NIGHT. HEADING INTO FRIDAY MORNING LIVE IN DES MOINES. I’
