Iowa weather: Windy rain chances return today
YES. IT’S JULY. WE ARE PROBABLY HUMID. YEAH, DEFINITELY. YEAH. YOU’RE BRINGING THE SUNSHINE TODAY WITH YOUR YELLOW DRESS BECAUSE WE’VE HAD A LOT OF CLOUD COVER AND SOME RAINDROPS ACROSS OUR AREA. YEAH, NOT TERRIBLE, BUT BREEZY TODAY AND DEFINITELY HAD THE CLOUD COVER WITH A FEW SUN BREAKS EARLIER THIS MORNING. BUT WE HAVE MORE CLOUDS ROLLING IN RIGHT NOW AS WE GO INTO THE 6:00 HOUR HERE. PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES. YOU CAN SEE THAT FROM OUR DOWNTOWN SKYCAM. TEMPERATURES RIGHT AT 60 THOUGH, SO IT’S STILL PRETTY MILD. NORTH WIND BLOWING AT ABOUT 15MPH. SO THOSE BREEZY WINDS WILL STICK AROUND AT LEAST THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING HOURS HERE TONIGHT. RAINFALL TOTALS FROM TODAY, AS EXPECTED, NOT AMOUNTING TO TOO MUCH HERE. MAYBE A FEW HUNDREDTHS OF AN INCH IN MOST SPOTS. THAT SAW THE RAIN HERE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. THAT THOSE SHOWERS, I SHOULD SAY, WERE PRETTY SPOTTY IN NATURE, AND THEY’RE STILL PRETTY SPOTTY OUT THERE GOING INTO THE EVENING TONIGHT. NOTICE JUST A FEW RAINDROPS SOUTH OF I-80? WE’VE GOT MORE, MAYBE WIDESPREAD SHOWERS, IF YOU WILL, DOWN TOWARDS SOUTHEASTERN IOWA, BUT IT’S VERY HIT OR MISS. OTHERWISE, YOU’RE PROBABLY SEEING A MOSTLY CLOUDY SKY OUT THERE RIGHT NOW. JUST A FEW SHOWERS MAKING THEIR WAY JUST SOUTH OF PELLA AND KNOXVILLE. NOW MOVING CLOSER TOWARDS SOUTHERN IOWA AS WE GO INTO THE NEXT HALF AN HOUR OR SO. RAIN FOR EVERYONE WILL COME TO AN END HERE TONIGHT. CHECK OUT SOME OF THE WIND GUSTS TODAY, THOUGH. WE’VE GUSTED CLOSE TO 40 TO 45MPH OUT INTO FAR WESTERN IOWA AND SOUTHWESTERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE TODAY. 36 MILE PER HOUR GUSTS HERE IN DES MOINES TOMORROW. THE WINDS BACK OFF SO WE LOSE THE RAIN AND THE WIND. BUT IN RETURN, WE GET A LITTLE BIT OF A COOLER DAY. CLOUDY SKIES TOMORROW. DRY START, BUT NOT AS WARM AS WHERE WE WERE THIS AFTERNOON. I THINK THE CLOUDS WILL LIKELY LINGER AND KIND OF HINDER OUR TEMPERATURES HERE THROUGH THE DAY ON FRIDAY. SO WE MADE IT TO THE END OF THE WORKWEEK FOR TOMORROW. CLOUDS WILL STICK AROUND AT TIMES HERE TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY TOMORROW MORNING, SO EXPECT A MAINLY CLOUDY SKY, AT LEAST FOR THE FIRST PART OF THE DAY. I’D SAY MAYBE SOME SUN BREAKS LATE AFTERNOON. WE’LL SEE IF THOSE CLOUDS CAN MIX OUT OR NOT. OTHERWISE WE HEAD INTO SATURDAY. WE’RE BACK TO SOME SUNSHINE, BUT THE WINDS DO PICK BACK UP HERE BOTH DAYS OF YOUR WEEKEND, BUT OUR TEMPERATURES ARE WARMING NICELY HERE SATURDAY. PROBABLY CLOSER TO 70. STILL WINDY THOUGH. SUNDAY MID TO UPPER 70S. LIKELY HERE TO END OUT THE WEEKEND WITH A FEW CLOUDS. SO NICE END TO OUR WEEKEND. DEFINITELY A WARMER WEEKEND AS WELL. TONIGHT WILL WILL FALL BACK INTO THE MID AND UPPER 30S INTO NORTHERN IOWA. LOW 40S HERE FOR CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE STATE TOMORROW. AGAIN, NOT QUITE AS WARM AS TODAY. FAR WESTERN IOWA WITH MORE SUNSHINE LIKELY MAKING IT INTO THE 60S. OTHERWISE, I THINK THE MAJORITY OF THE OF THE STATE MID AND UPPER 50S ON THE BOARD FOR FRIDAY, WINDIER FOR THE WEEKEND. THAT WIND WILL STICK AROUND INTO MONDAY AND TUESDAY. TEMPERATURES FLUCTUATE HERE NEXT WEEK. ONCE WE GET THROUGH THE WEEKEND. WITH THE 70S, WE’RE TALKING LOW 60S MONDAY AND THEN UPPER 50S TO 60S AND BACK TO T
