Iowa weather: Windy stretch with warming temps and more storm chances
THAT’S AWESOME. YEAH. YOU KNOW, JASON, IT SOUNDS LIKE MAYBE TOMORROW COULD BE A BETTER DAY IF YOU’RE DOING KIND OF ANY OUTDOOR WORK. OR I COULD BE COMPLETELY WRONG ABOUT THAT. AND TUESDAY MIGHT NOT BE ANY GOOD EITHER. NO, YOU’RE YOU’RE DEFINITELY IN THE RIGHT BALLPARK THERE. I MEAN, THE WIND IS GOING TO BE SLIGHTLY LIGHTER. SO WE’LL HAVE THAT. WE’LL HAVE SUNSHINE TO GO ALONG WITH IT. SO THOSE ARE TWO BETTER THINGS TOMORROW THAN WE HAD OUT THERE TODAY. HAD SOME RAIN TO STILL HAVE THAT OUT NEAR NEWTON SPANNING TOWARDS GRINNELL. GOING TO BE MAKING ITS WAY INTO PELLA MOMENTARILY AND OVER LAKE REDROCK. SO NOT PUTTING DOWN A TON. BUT DON’T BE SURPRISED IF YOU SEE A STRAY SHOWER PUSHING ITS WAY ON THROUGH. BUT REALLY, THAT’S ALL THAT WE’VE GOT OUT THERE AT THIS POINT. ALL OF THE OTHER SHOWERS HAVE DRIED UP AS THE SYSTEM HAS PUSHED ITS WAY TO THE EAST, AND IT WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO AS WE HEAD INTO THE DAY TOMORROW. PERHAPS A LINGERING SHOWER TO THE NORTH. YOU CAN SEE THOSE WINDS EVEN AS WE START THE DAY SITTING AROUND 25MPH FOR GUSTS, AND THOSE WILL RAMP UP TO AROUND 25 TO 30MPH. SO NO 60 MILE PER HOUR WIND GUSTS LIKE WE SAW TODAY. BUT IT’S STILL GOING TO BE WINDY OUT THERE. AND FINALLY, THAT’S GOING TO DIE BACK DOWN AS WE WORK OUR WAY INTO THE DAY. ON WEDNESDAY. 60 FOR THE METRO, 63 FOR CARROLL AREAS OFF TO THE SOUTH, SITTING IN THE LOW TO MID 60S AND AGAIN BREEZY, BREEZY CONDITIONS ALL DAY LONG FOR US HERE. TEMPERATURES THOUGH PUSHING BACK INTO THE LOW 70S BY WEDNESDAY AND THEN BY THURSDAY. MORE CHANCES FOR SHOWERS. THE POTENTIAL FOR THUNDERSTORMS COULD EVEN SEE SOME STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS. THEIR MAIN THREAT LOOKS RIGHT NOW LIKE IT WILL BE HAIL. WE’LL GO OVER MORE ON THAT IN A SECOND, BUT AS WE GET CLOSER, WE’LL GET MORE OF AN IDEA OF HOW THAT DAY IS GOING TO SHAKE OUT. FOR NOW THOUGH, TOMORROW IS LOOKING PRETTY GOOD. LOW TO MID 60S THROUGH CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE STATE, AND A LITTLE BIT COOLER AS YOU HEAD OFF TO THE NORTH. FOREST CITY AT 56. SO EXTENDED FORECAST. YOU’LL NOTICE THAT SYSTEM PUSH ITS WAY IN ON THURSDAY 1 P.M. WE’VE GOT SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE STATE THAT IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO WIND ITS WAY TO THE NORTHEAST. AND THEN BY FRIDAY NIGHT, WE’LL HAVE MORE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS, MAINLY THROUGH SOUTHEASTERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE. THAT COULD AGAIN BE STRONG. AND THEN A SWELL OF MOISTURE IS GOING TO WORK ITS WAY IN FOR YOUR EASTER SUNDAY. SO IF YOU’VE GOT PLANS TO BE OUTSIDE FOR THAT, IT MIGHT BE A LITTLE SOGGY OUT THERE. SO PLAN FOR AT LEAST A CANOPY TO BE UNDER. BUT AS FAR AS YOUR THURSDAY SEVERE WEATHER RISK AREA HIGHLIGHTED IN YELLOW WILL HAVE THE BEST CHANCE FOR THAT AGAIN. HIGHEST LIKELIHOOD FOR ANYTHING SEVERE WILL BE HAIL, THOUGH. AS WE GET CLOSER, WE’LL GET MORE OF AN IDEA OF SOME OF THOSE OTHER THREATS AND HOW SEVERE THOSE COULD BE. BUT THAT THREAT SHIFTS TO THE SOUTHEAST AS WE HEAD INTO THE DAY ON FRIDAY. YOU CAN SEE IF YOU’VE GOT PLANS TO DRIVE EASTWARD ON FRIDAY. CHICAGO, CHAMPAIGN, DOWN THROUGH SAINT LOUIS, EVEN FORT WAYNE, INDIANA, WE’LL HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS. SO. EIGHT DAY FORECAST THAT TEMPERATURES BUILDING UP. WE’RE BACK INTO THE MIDDLE 70S BY THURSDAY, 70 ON FRIDAY. THAT SYSTEM ROLLS THROUGH, THOUGH WE ARE MUCH COOLER, LOW 60S ON SATURDAY. AGAIN,

Iowa weather: Windy stretch with warming temps and more storm chances
Showers have begun to press into northwestern Iowa. As the afternoon wears on we'll likely see some spotty thunderstorms develop in central Iowa, with the potential for small hail and isolated damaging wind gusts. Interactive Radar | Weather AlertsMuch of the threat for any storms will wane by 8-9 p.m. as the weak disturbance moves out and high pressure fills in behind it. This will keep our skies sunny on Tuesday as the high pressure centered over Nebraska shifts southeast to the Gulf Coast. Temperatures will climb from the low-60s Tuesday, to the upper-60s Wednesday, and eventually into the mid-70s Thursday as an area of low pressure begins to move out of the mountain west and shift our winds to out of the south. As the low moves eastward warm, moist air will spread across the state with dewpoints building into the low- to mid-50s.With warm temperatures and moisture in place we'll see our instability build into the afternoon bringing the potential for some stronger storms. More details as to specific timing and threats will be fleshed out over the next couple days. Behind this system temperatures dip back into the low 60s Friday and low 60s Saturday and Easter Sunday.
