Iowa weather: Multiple chances for rain this week with 80s possible Friday
IF THAT WERE THE CASE. ALL RIGHT. LET’S GO AHEAD AND CHANGE GEARS NOW TO OUR WEATHER PICTURE. JASON IS ON RADAR. WATCH THIS EVENING. YEAH, IT LOOKS LIKE LOOKS LIKE RAIN IS FALLING, BUT BUT YES, IT’S A BIG BUT YEAH, WE’VE GOT REALLY DRY AIR AT THE SURFACE. SO IT LOOKS LIKE THE WHOLE STATE NEARLY IS PICKING UP ON RAIN WHEN REALLY WE’RE NOT SEEING ANY OF THIS HIT THE GROUND BECAUSE OF THAT DRY AIR. DEW POINTS ACROSS THE STATE ARE IN THE MID 20S TO LOW 30S, SO IT TAKES A LOT OF MOISTURE TO OVERCOME THAT. AND RIGHT NOW THESE ARE JUST NOT THAT ROBUST OF SHOWERS THAT ARE WORKING THEIR WAY ON THROUGH. COULD WE SNEAK OUT A SPRINKLE LATER ON? SURE. BUT FOR THE TIME BEING IT’S LOOKING PRETTY QUIET. LOOKING OUT FROM THE FAIRGROUNDS. WELL, BEAUTIFUL NIGHT FOR US RIGHT NOW. TEMPERATURES ARE PRETTY COMFORTABLE. WE’RE IN THE LOW 50S LOOKING OUT AT LAMONI. YOU CAN SEE CLOUDY SKIES THERE. WE’RE OVERCAST ACROSS MUCH OF THE STATE, AND AS WE WORK OUR WAY INTO THE EVENING, YOU CAN SEE THAT AREA OF SHOWERS CONTINUES TO TRANSITION EASTWARD. COULD GET ANOTHER REINFORCING BATCH OF LIGHT RAIN INTO THE MORNING HOURS TOMORROW, AND THEN MORE CHANCES EVEN INTO TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE BIT MORE MOISTURE TO WORK WITH. SO WE MAY SEE SOME OF THOSE SPRINKLES MAKE THEIR WAY DOWN. BUT AGAIN, NOT GOING TO BE ANYTHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT FOR US AS WE HEAD INTO WEDNESDAY. OVERCAST SKIES AGAIN, YOU CAN SEE MORE CHANCES TO JUST HIT OR MISS SHOWERS. BUT AS WE WORK OUR WAY INTO THURSDAY, EVEN HAVE SOME THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE THROUGH SOUTH SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE. COULD EVEN SEE SOME SMALL HAIL IN SOME OF THOSE. THE MODELS, SOME OF THEM, DRAG THAT A LITTLE BIT FURTHER TO THE NORTH, SO WE’LL HAVE TO GET A LITTLE CLOSER BEFORE WE GET AN EXACT TRACK ON THAT. BUT AS FAR AS RAINFALL AMOUNTS THROUGH TOMORROW MORNING, AGAIN, NOTHING HUGE, MAYBE A 10TH OF AN INCH AT BEST. IF WE CAN ACTUALLY BRING THAT MOISTURE DOWN TO THE GROUND. BUT AREAS TO THE SOUTH FOR THAT SYSTEM ON THURSDAY, AGAIN, IF THAT WINDS UP BEING A LITTLE BIT FURTHER TO THE NORTH, WE COULD SEE HALF INCH TO AN INCH IN SPOTS. AND WE DO NEED THE RAIN. SO THAT WOULD BE FAIRLY GOOD NEWS FOR US. YOUR DAY TOMORROW, THOUGH, IS LOOKING PRETTY DRY. TEMPERATURES BACK INTO THE UPPER 50S TO LOW 60S. WE’LL HAVE SOME CLOUDS BUILDING AS WE HEAD INTO THE AFTERNOON, SO IF YOU WANT TO SEE SOME SUNSHINE, THAT BEST BET WOULD PROBABLY BE THE EARLIER THE BETTER. TOMORROW. EXTENDED FORECAST. HERE’S A LOOK AT THURSDAY. AGAIN. YOU SAW THAT INITIAL MODEL THAT HAD IT JUST ON THE SOUTHERN EDGE OF THE STATE. THIS ONE IS A LOT MORE WIDESPREAD ACROSS THE STATE. SO WITH THIS KIND OF DIFFERENCE IN THE MODELS, HARD TO PIN DOWN WHERE EXACTLY THE HEAVIEST WILL BE. BUT WE’LL KNOW AS WE GET A LITTLE BIT CLOSER AND THEN INTO THE DAY ON SATURDAY, YOU CAN SEE HEAVIER RAIN THROUGH PORTIONS OF MINNESOTA. THIS SYSTEM BRINGING IN QUITE A BIT OF RAIN. THERE’S POTENTIAL FOR THUNDERSTORMS AND THEN EVEN SOME MODELS BRINGING IN SOME LIGHT SNOW IN SPOTS. AND THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS TOO. WE’RE KIND OF JUST ON THE EDGE OF IT HERE, SO WE’LL SEE HOW THIS SHIFTS AS WE GET A LITTLE BIT CLOSER. BUT AGAIN, MODELS ARE VERY SPLIT ON WHAT THEY SHOW WITH THIS HEADING INTO THE DAY ON SUNDAY. YOU CAN SEE THAT THREAT SHIFTS ITS WAY EASTWARD FOR AREAS LIKE CHICAGO, CINCINNATI AND SAINT LOUIS. BUT WE’RE WARMING UP. BY THE WAY, YOU SHAKE IT 69 ON THURSDAY, 80 DEGREES ON FRIDAY. GOING TO BE FEELING WARM AND WINDY OUT THERE AS WE SEE SOME GUSTS UPWARDS OF 35MPH. AFTER THAT, RAIN AND STORMS COO

Iowa weather: Multiple chances for rain this week with 80s possible Friday
The ups and downs of Spring are upon us and this week is no exception. Highs Tuesday and Wednesday will top out in the low 60s across much of the state with an isolated chance for a shower Tuesday as a weak system pushes through bringing only light amounts of rain. Wednesday is looking dry with sunny skies.Interactive Radar | Weather Alerts Our next system pushes in late Wednesday into Thursday. Models are still a touch split on the amount of rain we will see, but it looks like the heaviest will fall I-80 southward into Missouri. Behind this system our temperatures start to climb with upper 60s Thursday and temperatures soaring into the upper 70s to low 80s Friday riding a stiff southwest breeze with gusts upwards of 40 mph. An elongated area of low pressure driving those winds will push in from the west Saturday will bring in more widespread chances for showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be strong. The best instability right now looks to stay south of the state, though with how split models are with the progression of this system that will have to monitored as we get closer. Temperatures drop off as the system moves through with highs in the upper 60s Saturday and low to mid-50s Sunday and Monday with more showers possible Sunday.Iowa weather forecastToday: Mostly sunny morning, then more clouds by afternoon.
