Iowa weather: Storms moving east across the state
We've seen showers and thunderstorms off and on for days and tonight will bring another chance, though we'll likely skip the hail some of us picked up. Showers and thunderstorms will move through tonight with some already pushing into the western edge of the state.
Expect them to become more numerous as they spread across Iowa reaching the metro around 10-11 p.m. These will bring a chance for heavy rainfall with some throughout central, western and southwestern Iowa seeing as much as 1-2" of rain.

Rain will eventually taper off Friday morning, though the clouds will continue to linger. The temperatures behind the front that brought us the rain/storms will be much cooler with highs on Friday and Saturday ranging from the upper 50s to mid-60s.
Saturday high pressure pushes from the Minnesota/Canadian border to the Great Lakes helping to clear out our skies making for a gorgeous day.
An area of low pressure building over the mountain west pushing into the Dakotas will shift our winds to out of the south building in more moisture and providing another rain chance Sunday.
The stout center of low pressure will surge eastward into the start of next week bringing in our next chance for strong to severe storms Monday. At this point it appears we'll see a line of storms form and move through the state possibly late Monday night into Tuesday, though with how far out we are the timing details are likely to change some. Instability with this system will be abundant making for ample energy for storms to tap into. With that said, low level winds are oriented out of the southwest which may favor more of a linear setup rather than discrete supercells.
Time will tell as we get closer and see how this will evolve, but it's something to keep a close eye on at this point. Highs on Monday riding the southwest wind will push into the low 80s, with temperatures fading back into the upper 60s to low 70s behind this system with much more tranquil weather through at least the middle of the week.
