MAIN STORIES OF THE DAY, WHETHER THE STRONG WIND IS STILL A BIG ISSUE RIGHT NOW, WIND IS WHIPPING. TEMPERATURES HAVE DROPPED DRAMATICALLY COMPARED TO YESTERDAY. AND YEAH, AND THE WINDS MAKING IT FEEL OBVIOUSLY A LOT COLDER OUT THERE THAN IT ACTUALLY IS. BUT AIR TEMPERATURES ARE RUNNING CLOSE TO 30 DEGREES COLDER THAN THIS SAME TIME YESTERDAY. IT’S A NORTHWEST WIND THAT CONTINUES TO BLOW HERE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW FREEZING IN MOST SPOTS. 24 IN CARLISLE. WE’RE AT 29 NOW IN COLFAX, 27 IN GRIMES AND 26 NOW IN JOHNSTON. THAT’S THE CASE FOR MUCH OF THE STATE. LOW 30S AS YOU HEAD INTO EASTERN IOWA NOW FOR THE NOON HOUR WIND CHILL MAKES IT FEEL LIKE SINGLE DIGITS IF NOT LOW. TEENS OUT THERE, ESPECIALLY HERE IN CENTRAL AND WESTERN IOWA. SO IT’S GOING TO BE A COLD REST OF YOUR WEDNESDAY. SNOW HAS COME TO AN END. THERE ARE A LITTLE BIT OF CLOUD COVER. THERE IS A LITTLE BIT OF CLOUD COVER OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW, BUT OVERALL THE MAJORITY OF THE SNOW HAS COME TO AN END FOR US HERE ACROSS CENTRAL IOWA. HERE’S WHERE THE WINDS ARE HEADED THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. STILL PRETTY STRONG, ESPECIALLY ALONG AND EAST OF I-35. THEY’LL START TO LESSEN THROUGH THE AFTERNOON FROM WEST TO EAST HERE, BUT STILL EXPECT THE WIND GUSTS CLOSE TO MAYBE 25 30MPH THROUGH ABOUT 7:00 THIS EVENING. THEY’LL COMPLETELY WEAKEN OVERNIGHT, AND THURSDAY IS GOING TO BE A MUCH CALMER DAY TOMORROW. I DON’T THINK WE’LL HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE WIND ON THURSDAY OR REALLY FRIDAY FOR THAT MATTER. THAT SNOW IS OUT OF HERE. WE GO INTO THE AFTERNOON. WE COULD MAYBE SEE A LITTLE BIT OF CLEARING OUT INTO WESTERN IOWA THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING HOURS. CLOUDS. TOTALLY START TO MIX OUT OVERNIGHT TONIGHT WITH THE FRESH SNOW ON THE GROUND. WILL BE A CHILLY NIGHT FOR A LOT OF US, AND THEN WE GO INTO THE DAY ON THURSDAY. I THINK WE’RE BACK TO SOME SUNSHINE AND TEMPERATURES TOMORROW ARE GOING TO BE BACK UP CLOSE TO 40 DEGREES, SO NOT BAD AS WE GO INTO THE DAY TOMORROW. RIGHT NOW WE’VE GOT THE SLUSHY ROADS OUT THERE. OF COURSE, BLOWING SNOW, ESPECIALLY OUT IN OPEN AREAS OR RURAL AREAS, OUT ON SOME OF THOSE HIGHWAYS ACROSS THE STATE. THAT’S WHERE WE HAVE THE BLOWING SNOW CONCERNS. THAT CONTINUES AS LONG AS THE WINDS STAY ELEVATED, WHICH THEY WILL THROUGH THE REST OF THE DAY TODAY, THEN TONIGHT, THOSE WINDS RELAX. AND I THINK WE’LL DEFINITELY HAVE IMPROVING CONDITIONS OUT THERE THROUGH THE DAY ON YOUR THURSDAY. AND WINDS AGAIN BACKING OFF QUITE A BIT HERE TOMORROW. SO TODAY WE END UP PROBABLY UPPER 20S, MAYBE SOME OF US INTO THE LOW 30S. THAT BLIZZARD WARNING GOES UNTIL 3:00 TODAY. FOR MUCH OF THE STATE WE STILL HAVE THE STRONG WIND GUSTS TO MAYBE 50 CLOSE TO 60MPH ACROSS PORTIONS OF IOWA. TONIGHT WE DROP BACK INTO THE TEENS AND LOW 20S, AND THEN TOMORROW, HERE THE 40S, A LITTLE BIT CHILLIER, LIKELY, WHERE WE HAVE SOME HIGHER SNOWPACK OR BIGGER SNOWPACK FROM SOME OF THOSE HIGHER SNOW TOTALS UP INTO NORTHWESTERN AND WESTERN IOWA. AND THEN WE ARE BACK TO MAYBE SOME MORE SNOW BY FRIDAY. TEMPERATURES ON FRIDAY ONLY IN THE UPPER 30S. THEN WE’RE TALKING 40S FOR THE WEEKEND. SO WHATEVER WE GET DEFINITELY WILL SEE. PLENTY OF MELTING HERE THROUGH THE DAY ON SUNDAY. EVEN MORE MELTING INTO NEXT WEEK WITH TEMPERATURES REBOUNDING QUITE A BIT BACK UP INTO THE MID
