Iowa forecast: Severe storm chances continue throughout Tuesday afternoon

Iowa forecast: Severe storm chances continue throughout Tuesday afternoon
NEED TO BE AWARE OF. JASON. YEAH. AND AGAIN, THESE STORMS HAVE JUST BEEN CONTINUING IN WAVES. AND THAT’S WHAT WE HAVE BEEN SEEING OUT THERE. SO YOU CAN SEE THE STORMS THAT WE HAVE GOT RIGHT NOW WORKING THEIR WAY THROUGH NORTH CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE STATE. SO THAT AREA OF STORMS, AGAIN, HAS BEEN CAPABLE OF WINDS OF UP TO 60MPH. SO IF YOU WERE IN THE PATH OF THAT PLAN FOR POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS AND YOU CAN SEE JUST HOW STRONG SOME OF THESE HAVE BEEN IN THE PAST, AGAIN, WE HAD ROTATION WITH THESE STORMS, AND WE ALSO HAD, AGAIN, SOME SMALL HAIL IN SPOTS. BUT HAIL WAS NEVER THE MAIN THREAT WITH THESE. WE’VE HAD UM, AGAIN, HEAVY RAIN IN SPOTS, MUCH BENEFICIAL HEAVY RAIN IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN SEEING. SO AS WE GO THROUGHOUT THE DAY HERE, WE’RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO SEE MORE ROUNDS AND MORE CHANCES FOR SOME OF THESE STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS TO BLOSSOM AND PUSH THEIR WAY THROUGH THE STATE. AND AGAIN, AS THAT CLEARING HAPPENS TO THE WEST THAT IS GOING TO REALLY HELP TO RE-ENERGIZE THE ATMOSPHERE HERE AND BRING IN THOSE CHANCES FOR SOME OF THOSE STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS. SO WE’RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO TRACK THIS. AND YOU CAN SEE ON RADAR RIGHT NOW, UM, YOU CAN SEE ON RADAR RIGHT NOW THAT TORNADO WATCH THAT WE HAD, WHERE WAS THE HIT THAT I HAD FOR YOU CAN SEE THAT THE STRONG STORMS THAT WE’VE GOT THROUGH NORTH CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE STATE. SO THESE RIGHT NOW AGAIN, WE’RE NOT DEALING WITH ANYTHING TORNADIC. BUT YOU CAN SEE THE LIGHTNING THAT WE’VE GOT INVOLVED HERE. YOU CAN SEE THE STRENGTH OF THESE STORMS. SO THIS IS KIND OF THAT SECONDARY WAVE THAT WE HAD TALKED ABOUT AGAIN THAT WAS CAPABLE OF THE HAIL, THE DAMAGING WINDS AND THE TORNADOES. AND WE SAW THAT. WE SAW THAT TORNADO WARNED STORM THAT WAS GOING FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES. SO WE LOOK TO THE SOUTH NOW AND YOU CAN SEE THESE AREAS OF STORMS ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO PUSH THEIR WAY THROUGH THAT. SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEASTERN PORTION OF THE STATE, AND WILL LIKELY EVEN SEE AS WE HEAD INTO THE AFTERNOON, A SECONDARY LINE START TO DEVELOP OFF TO THE SOUTHWEST THERE. AND THOSE AGAIN, WE’RE GOING TO BE TALKING ABOUT THE POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING WAVES, THE POTENTIAL FOR TORNADIC FOR TORNADOES AS WELL AS THE POTENTIAL FOR HAIL. THAT’S LIKELY GOING TO START TO FIRE UP. I’D SAY EVEN BETWEEN THREE, 4 P.M., WE’LL HAVE SOME POTENTIAL FOR THAT THROUGH AROUND 7 P.M., BUT BY THAT TIME, THAT THREAT IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO SHIFT OFF TO THE EAST. SO I’M GOING TO HOP BACK OVER HERE REALLY QUICK, AND I WANT TO SHOW YOU JUST A FEW PRODUCTS SO WE CAN KIND OF INTERROGATE THIS A LITTLE BIT AND GET AN IDEA OF WHAT WE’RE LOOKING AT, BECAUSE A LOT OF THESE STORMS I KNOW, I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE THINKING WE’RE UNDER A TORNADO WATCH. ARE WE SEEING ANYTHING RIGHT NOW? AND IT DOESN’T LOOK LIKE WE ARE PER SE, BUT WE ARE SEEING THE STRONG WINDS THAT WORK THEIR WAY THROUGH. THAT’S THE MAIN THREAT WITH THESE STORMS, RIGHT? RIGHT NOW. SO LOOKING AT THE VARIOUS AREAS HERE, AND AGAIN, AS WE TALKED ABOUT EARLIER, YOU GET FURTHER AWAY FROM THE RADAR AND YOU GET ELEVATED WINDS BECAUSE WE’RE TALKING ABOUT READING THAT WIND FROM HIGHER UP INTO THE ATMOSPHERE. SO SOME OF THESE WINDS TAKE ABOUT FIVE, MAYBE EVEN TEN MILES PER HOUR OFF OF THOSE. BUT WE’RE STILL DEALING WITH WITH WINDS THAT ARE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGE. SO I WANT YOU TO IF YOU ARE IN THIS AREA, AREAS LIKE IOWA FALLS, ELDORA, STORY CITY, YOU’RE GOING TO BE DEALING WITH SOME PRETTY STRONG STUFF OUT THERE, AND WE’RE GOING TO BE DEALING WITH THIS AGAIN AS WE HEAD INTO THE AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EVENING, WILL EVENTUALLY START TO SEE THIS DIE DOWN. I’LL HAVE A FUTURE TRACK UP HERE FOR YOU IN A SECOND. BUT WHAT WE’RE SEEING AT THE MOMENT IS JUST GENERALLY STRONG WINDS. AND WE’VE EVEN GOT A WIND ADVISORY OUT THAT HAS LED US TO HAVE ATMOSPHERIC WINDS THAT ARE EVEN IN EXCESS OF 50MPH. SO ONCE I GET THIS LOADED HERE, I WILL BE ON MY WAY. BUT YOU CAN SEE CURRENTLY WE IF YOU REMEMBER YESTERDAY WE HAD SOME WINDS THAT WERE UPWARDS. IF I CAN GET WEATHER GRAPH ONE UP HERE. UM, YEAH. TODAY WE HAD SOME WINDS THAT WERE OR SOME DEW POINTS THAT WERE DOWN INTO THE TEENS. NOW THAT DEW POINT 63. SO WE HAVE MOISTURE LOADED, THIS ATMOSPHERE, THAT TEMPERATURE COMING IN AT 65. SO REALLY SATURATED STUFF IS WHAT WE’RE LOOKING AT 59 FOR AMES, 57 IN FORT DODGE. AND A LOT OF WARMTH TO THE SOUTH. SOME OF THOSE AREAS OFF TO THE NORTHEAST, A WHOLE LOT DRIER. BUT WE ZOOM OUT A LITTLE BIT AND YOU CAN SEE THIS LITTLE NOSE OF DRY AIR. WE’VE GOT A DRY LINE THAT’S WORKING ITS WAY TO THE EAST AND THAT WILL EVENTUALLY BE THE CATALYST FOR SOME STORMS AS WE HEAD TOWARDS THE AFTERNOON. SO THIS CLEARING RIGHT HERE IS WHAT’S GOING TO REALLY HELP TO JUICE THE ATMOSPHERE. SO I KNOW WE’VE DEALT WITH A ROUND OF STORMS EARLY TODAY. WE’VE DEALT WITH A ROUND OF STORMS NOW, BUT THERE’S STILL MORE POTENTIAL INTO THE AFTERNOON FOR MORE STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING TORNADO AND CAPABLE OF PRODUCING SOME LARGE HAIL. SO TRACKING THIS OUT FOR YOU ON YOUR 12 HOUR FORECAST AS WE HEAD INTO THE DAY TOMORROW, AGAIN, JUST GOING TO BE GENERALLY WINDY. BUT AS WE HEAD THROUGHOUT THE DAY TODAY, THIS AREA OF STORMS CONTINUES TO MARCH ITS WAY TO THE EAST. AND AS IT DOES SO, IT’S GOING TO BRING SOME STRONG WINDS ALONG WITH IT AND IT WILL BRING THAT POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING WINDS AND TORNADOES AS WELL. SO I’M GOING TO HOP OVER TO THAT EIGHT DAY FORECAST FOR YOU HERE. UM, MY GRAPHICS ARE TOTALLY LOCKING UP ON ME. BUT AGAIN, WE’VE GOT TEMPERATURES THAT ARE EVENTUALLY GOING TO BE BACKING DOWN FOR US INTO THE 50S. AND THEN THE THREAT WILL BE GOING AWAY. BUT AS WE HEAD INTO THE AFTERNOON AGAIN, COULD BE A BUMPY DAY. WE’LL HAVE AN
