Iowa weather: Much-needed rain on the way, making for a soggy Drake Relays
THAT’S FOR SURE. AMANDA. THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT, WELL, THE SUNSHINE ON A MONDAY RAMPED UP SOMEWHAT, ESPECIALLY AFTER A RAINY EASTER SUNDAY. IT WAS GOOD TO SEE THE SUN. YEAH, IT WAS SO COOL AND WINDY OUTSIDE YESTERDAY TO GET THAT SUN HITTING YOU AGAIN. IT DOES A WORLD OF GOOD. AND WE’VE GOT IT FOR THE TIME BEING. WE WILL HAVE MORE RAIN CHANCES THOUGH EVENTUALLY HERE, SO SOAK IT IN WHILE YOU CAN. BUT YOU LOOK OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW OF OUR COUNT OF OUR SKY CAMS AND YOU CAN SEE CLEAR SKIES NO MATTER WHERE YOU’RE AT. LAMONI ALGONA UPWARDS TOWARDS MARSHALLTOWN, EVEN OUT AT THE FAIRGROUNDS. CRYSTAL CLEAR SKIES ACROSS THE STATE. SO PUTTING SOME GOOD WEATHER TOGETHER HERE. STILL A LITTLE BREEZY OUT THERE AS WE HEAD TOWARDS THE EVENING HOURS. SHOWERS, MAYBE A RUMBLE. WE’LL START TO WORK THEIR WAY IN ACROSS THE STATE AND NOT GOING TO BE THAT LONG LIVED, BUT WE’LL AT LEAST HAVE THAT POTENTIAL INTO YOUR TUESDAY MORNING AS WELL. THEN WE CATCH A BREAK. COULD SEE SOME MORE SUNSHINE. IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO HEAD OUTSIDE TOMORROW. REALLY THE MIDDLE PORTION OF THE DAY IS NOT LOOKING BAD. BY THE LATER AFTERNOON EARLY EVENING HOURS WE WILL HAVE AT LEAST SOME POTENTIAL FOR STRAY SHOWER OR THUNDERSTORM TO POP UP. COULD EVEN SEE A STRAY STRONGER STORM OUT THERE, BRINGING IN A LITTLE BIT OF SMALL HAIL AND THE POTENTIAL FOR A LITTLE BIT OF WIND. BUT SHOWERS CONTINUE. IT’S GOING TO BE KIND OF THIS OFF AND ON PATTERN UNTIL WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND HERE, AND YOU CAN SEE NOTHING TOO HEAVY WITH EACH ONE OF THESE CHANCES. BUT AS WE WORK OUR WAY INTO THE WEEKEND, I WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED IN TOTAL IF SOME OF US PICKED UP AN INCH OR TWO. BUT THURSDAY MORNING, EVEN MORE SHOWERS AND STORMS UP THROUGH NORTHWESTERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE. SO IF YOU HAVE PLANS TO HEAD OUT TO THE GRAND BLUE MILE TOMORROW, IT’S REALLY NOT LOOKING BAD. WINDS WILL BE LIGHTER. WE WILL HAVE A CHANCE AT PERHAPS AN ISOLATED SHOWER. OTHERWISE, TEMPERATURE WISE, WE’RE IN THE UPPER 60S TO LOW 70S. THINGS ARE LOOKING PRETTY NICE. COULD SEE THAT STRAY STRONGER STORM THOUGH. AGAIN, THIS IS A LEVEL ONE THREAT ON A SCALE THAT GOES UP TO FIVE. SO NOT REALLY THAT ELEVATED FOR US AS FAR AS SEVERE WEATHER GOES, BUT WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED TO SEE AN ISOLATED, STRONGER STORM OUT THERE. BUT HEADING THROUGH THURSDAY, HEAVIEST RAIN LOOKS TO BE OFF TO THE NORTHEAST NEARLY AN INCH FOR WATERLOO AS YOU HEAD DOWN TOWARDS CEDAR RAPIDS. WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED TO SEE SOME LOCATIONS IN EXCESS OF AN INCH. SO MUCH MORE NEEDED. THAT REALLY NEEDED. RAIN DOES LOOK TO BE ON THE WAY NEXT FEW DAYS HERE. UPPER 60S TO MID 70S, SO HANGING ON TO SOME WARMTH WHICH IS GOOD. AGAIN, ABOUT TEN DEGREES ABOVE AVERAGE IN SPOTS. THAT RAIN THOUGH IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO MAKE AN APPEARANCE OFF AND ON AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND REALLY INTO THE WEEKEND, TEMPERATURE WISE, START TO DROP OFF AS A FRONT DRIVES ITS WAY THROUGH ON FRIDAY. THAT’S GOING TO TAKE OUR TEMPERATURE DOWN TO 67. WE’RE AT 65 ON SATURDAY. MORE RAIN CHANCES ON SUNDAY, BUT WE DO BOUNCE BACK UP. WE’RE INTO THE

Iowa weather: Much-needed rain on the way, making for a soggy Drake Relays
We've got an active stretch of weather ahead with rain chances nearly every day leading into the weekend. With that said, it won't be continuously raining through that entire stretch. Interactive Radar | Weather Alerts A weak center of low pressure will push through South Dakota and Minnesota tonight into tomorrow bringing rain and storm chances tonight, into the morning Tuesday. Some of the storms tonight may be strong with isolated hail and perhaps gusty winds. As the center of low pressure passes through Minnesota it will continue to drag a boundary through the state that will be responsible for more shower and thunderstorm chances Tuesday/Wednesday. Temperatures will stay warm and in the mid-70s Tuesday through Thursday. Another area of low pressure will move along the Iowa-Missouri border Thursday bringing more chances for rain and thunderstorm activity. Though the severe threat will generally be low, we will keep a chance for a strong storm or two Wednesday and Thursday. Rain chances generally depart Friday as the area of low pressure and its associated front finally push into Wisconsin and Illinois, and with high pressure nosing its way in from Minnesota we should be dry for much of Friday afternoon. Temperatures Friday will be cooler with highs in the mid-60s continuing through the rest of the weekend. A very large area of low pressure will build over the mountain west Friday/Saturday and slowly move towards Iowa increasing the shower and thunderstorm chances by late Saturday into Sunday with rain chances continuing throughout the day Sunday. We may again have some potential for hail/strong winds late Sunday with better potential for anything stronger early next week.
