Today's snow won't be the only flakes in Iowa this week

Today's snow has wrapped up for central Iowa, leaving gray skies for tonight. Scattered clouds will linger into Monday morning, and temperatures will fall to around 30 degrees. Skies will steadily clear through Monday, and winds will be much lighter out of the north. Highs will range from low 40s north to low 50s south.The next big weather system coming through the US will affect Iowa starting Tuesday.Parts of northwest Iowa could see another period of mixed precipitation early Tuesday morning. The rest of the state will notice clouds increasing and winds getting gusty through the day. Gusts out of the southeast will top 40 mph at times.Tuesday night, the main low-pressure center tracks through and brings widespread thunderstorms after 10 p.m. There is a threat of hail and a few damaging wind gusts with these late-night storms. The overall severe risk is currently a level 2 of 5 into the predawn hours of Wednesday morning.These storms and residual showers will head out of here before midday Wednesday. Winds will shift around to the west Wednesday, still gusting up to 45 mph, but warming us well into the 60s by afternoon.Temperatures return to the 50s for the rest of this week.
