Iowa weather: Blizzard warning expires, temperatures warming up Thursday

Blizzard conditions continue to intensify across northern and western Iowa making any travel extremely dangerous. Very windy but drier weather elsewhere across the state.

KNOW, RIGHT THERE. AND WE WANT TO BE IOWA. WARMER TOMORROW THAN WE WERE TODAY. GOSH, I WOULD JUST REALLY LIKE TO PUT THE BLIZZARD IN THE IN THE REAR VIEW UNTIL MAYBE 2027. THAT’S A GOOD THING. WE’LL SEE WHAT WE CAN DO FOR YOU. THANK YOU. AND I’M PUTTING IN MY ORDERS. OKAY. I LIKE THAT. I LIKE THAT THOUGHT. WELL, IT’S DEFINITELY IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR TONIGHT BECAUSE THE BLIZZARD WARNINGS HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO EXPIRE. SO THAT’S THE GOOD NEWS. WE DO HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF A CHILL IN THE AIR, SO WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE WIND CHILL AGAIN TONIGHT. TEMPERATURES FEELING LIKE THE LOW 20S OUT THERE FOR MOST SPOTS. AS FAR AS THE AIR TEMPERATURE GOES. WE’RE HOVERING IN THE LOW 30S RIGHT AROUND OR JUST ABOVE THE FREEZING MARK FOR A LOT OF SPOTS. THAT’S THE CASE HERE IN THE METRO AREA. WE GO STATEWIDE HERE AND MOST OF US ARE IN THE LOW 30S. NOW AS WE HEAD INTO THE 10:00 HOUR WIND CHILL, MAKES IT FEEL CHILLIER THAN THAT. WE STILL HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF A NORTHERLY WIND HERE THIS EVENING, SO FEELING LIKE 16 DEGREES UP IN ALGONA, ESPECIALLY PLACES THAT SAW SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW FEELS A LITTLE BIT CHILLIER THERE. 20 YOUR WINDCHILL IN FORT DODGE 22 IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE IN AMES. NICE VIEW OF DOWNTOWN DES MOINES THOUGH, WITH THE LIGHTS ON AND THE DARK SKIES. WE ARE QUIET. WE HAVE ENDED WITH THE RAIN OR A LITTLE BIT OF A RAIN-SNOW MIX FOR US. EARLIER TODAY. IT’S A MOSTLY CLOUDY SKY WITH OUR WINDS OUT OF THE NORTHWEST SUSTAINED AT ABOUT 17MPH, SO WE STILL HAVE THE BREEZE HERE TONIGHT. HERE’S THE BACK EDGE OF THE SNOW. IT’S SLOWLY SHIFTING EAST OF I-35 AND IT’S PRETTY MUCH COMING TO AN END. IT’S MUCH WEAKER THAN WHAT WE SAW EARLIER TODAY WHEN WE DID HAVE THE BLIZZARD LIKE CONDITIONS. A LITTLE BIT OF LIGHT SNOW, OR EVEN JUST A RAIN SNOW MIX DEPENDING ON WHERE TEMPERATURES ARE FOR SHERIDAN AND PELLA UP THROUGH TOLEDO AS WELL. SO THIS ALL WINDS DOWN AND IS OUT OF IOWA HERE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. VISIBILITY HAS IMPROVED GREATLY FOR EVERYONE IN THE METRO AREA. WE JUST HAVE MAYBE A FEW TROUBLE SPOTS OUT THERE, AND MOST OF THE LOWERED VISIBILITY IS MAINLY FOCUSED DOWN TOWARDS SOUTHEASTERN IOWA, OUT TOWARDS OTTUMWA. VISIBILITIES THERE DOWN TO ABOUT FOUR MILES. OTHERWISE NEXT 12 HOURS LOOK LIKE THIS WILL FALL INTO THE UPPER 20S HERE AS WE GO TOWARDS DAYBREAK TOMORROW, SUNSHINE WITH US TO BEGIN THE DAY. THE WINDS WILL STAY BREEZY HERE OVERNIGHT TONIGHT AND THEN THROUGH THE DAY ON THURSDAY. TOMORROW MORNING THIS IS AROUND 7 A.M. WE HAVE A NORTHWEST WIND STILL GUSTING TO MAYBE 20 TO 25MPH AT TIMES. SO A LITTLE BIT OF A BREEZE. TOMORROW WILL MAKE IT FEEL SLIGHTLY CHILLIER IN THE MORNING, BUT WE ARE BACK TO THE SUNSHINE ONCE WE GET RID OF THE CLOUD COVER HERE. TONIGHT MAY TAKE A LITTLE BIT LONGER FOR THE CLOUDS TO CLEAR. THEN THIS MODEL IS INDICATING, BUT ONCE THAT COLD FRONT IS GONE, WE’VE JUST GOT NORTHERLY WINDS TOMORROW AND MORE SUNSHINE AS WE HEAD INTO THE DAY ON YOUR THURSDAY. AS FAR AS THE WIND CHILL GOES, TOMORROW MORNING MAKES IT FEEL LIKE THE LOW TO MID TEENS OUT THERE, ESPECIALLY PLACES INTO NORTHWEST IOWA. THAT’S ALL SIX, EIGHT, TEN INCHES OF SNOWFALL OR MORE. IT’S GOING TO BE A LITTLE BIT CHILLIER TOMORROW AND IT WILL FEEL CHILLIER. AND YOU’LL NOTICE THAT WITH THE WIND CHILL, MOST OF US FEELING LIKE THE MID 20S BY LUNCHTIME, WE’RE KIND OF STUCK IN THE TEENS OUT TOWARDS PLACES LIKE CARROLL, FORT DODGE, UP TOWARDS HUMBOLDT AND ALGONA. SO WE HAVE SOME SNOW TO MELT AWAY FOR SOME FOLKS THROUGH THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. WE’LL DEFINITELY GET ABOVE FREEZING ONCE WE GET THROUGH TOMORROW MORNING. TEMPERATURES HANG OUT IN THE MID AND UPPER 40S. MORE SUNSHINE COMING OUR WAY HERE THIS WEEKEND. MAYBE A BRIEF SHOWER ON FRIDAY, BUT IT’S MILD. TEMPERATURES RIGHT AROUND 60 SATURDAY AS WELL. A FEW MORE SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE SUNDAY. NOT A WASHOUT, BUT THERE COULD BE SOME LIGHT RAIN AROUN
