Iowa students excited for the school's first Final Four in 30 years
Campus is going crazy at the University of Iowa for its first basketball team to make the Final Four in 30 years.
Hawkeye students were a little distracted Monday after the Iowa Women's Basketball Team punched their ticket to the Final Four Sunday night.
"It's exciting," sophomore Breccan Berns said. "I'm excited. Caitlin Clark is obviously the greatest player in basketball period right now. So that's pretty sweet to see. She's electric."
"It's a lot of energy in Iowa City I'm excited for it. We're going to get crazy Friday for sure," freshman Adeline Finnicum said.
Senior Brinnley Breitbach bought her tickets Monday morning and plans to drive down to Dallas to watch the Hawkeyes compete for a national title.
"So I booked a hotel and I'm driving down. I'm very excited, we're leaving Thursday night." Breitbach said. "It's not about the final four, it's about what like the team is doing for women's sports too so it's a big thing."
The Iowa Women's run through the NCAA Tournament is something these Hawkeyes take pride in. The last time Iowa City celebrated a final four was 1993 before most of these students were even born.
"I mean it's hard not to be excited about something like that, you can kind of feel the buzz and the energy in the student body," senior Jesse Vega said.
That's why no one wants to miss a chance to watch Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes shine in the national spotlight... and maybe even win a championship.
"Give it your all, we're proud of you, bring us home," Finnicum said.
"Keep going let's win the whole thing," Berns said.
