Iowa State vs. Cincinnati: How to watch the next Cyclones football game

Iowa State vs. Cincinnati: How to watch the next Cyclones football game
CARL’S AUTO GROUP. NOT A LOT OF ROOM FOR ERROR. THE UNBEATEN SEASON IS GONE. THE DREAM OF A BIG 12 TITLE, THOUGH THAT’S NOT. IT’S A STRAIGHT SHOT DOWN. I-35 FROM AMES TO ARLINGTON, BUT THE CYCLONES ARE NEEDING TO AVOID ANY AND ALL BUMPS IN THE ROAD FROM HERE ON OUT. ARROWHEAD STADIUM TURNED INTO JACK TRICE, SOUTH IOWA STATE TAKING ON KANSAS AS THE CYCLONES LOOKING TO SNAP A TWO GAME LOSING STREAK TO LANCE LEIPOLD’S TEAM AND THE CLONES HAVE BEEN DESPERATE FOR A HOT START FOR SOME TIME NOW. AND THEY GOT IT. AND THEN SOME FIRST DRIVE OF THE GAME GOES 99 YARDS CAPPED OFF HERE ROCCO BECK TO JAYLEN NOWELL. IT’S SEVEN. NOTHING JUST LIKE THAT. BUT IN A RESPONSE KANSAS GOES DOWN THE FIELD QUICKLY. JALEN DANIELS TO LUKE GRIMM 70 YARDS TO THE BIG BOX. WE’RE TIED AT SEVEN. AND FROM THERE THE JAYHAWKS KEPT ROLLING. NEXT DRIVE THE OFFENSE GOES 90 YARDS IN FOUR MINUTES. AND IT’S CAPPED OFF BY THE SPEED OPTION. DANIELS TO DEVIN NEAL SHIFTY SHIFTY SHIFTY 14 SEVEN KANSAS LEADS 21 SEVEN OR EXCUSE ME, 21 TEN INCHES THE SECOND QUARTER. AND THE JAYHAWKS GOING TO FIND THE END ZONE AGAIN. JALEN DANIELS ON THE KEEPER. IT’S 2810 THERE. IT’S 3110 3113 GOING INTO THE BREAK. AND IN THE THIRD QUARTER IT LOOKED LIKE MORE OF THE SAME DEVIN NEAL WALKS IN. IT’S 38 TO 10 JAYHAWKS AND IT’S STUNNING RIGHT NOW 28 POINT GAME. BUT SLOWLY BUT SURELY HERE COME THE CLONES ROCCO BACK TO THE GIVE TO CARSON HANSON. HE’S IN. IT’S 38 TO 20 OKAY THAT’S SOMETHING TO BUILD ON RIGHT. NEXT DRIVE ROCCO JALEN JACKSON HE TAKES IT 27 YARDS INTO THE HOUSE. AND THEY WOULD GET THE TWO POINT CONVERSION. IT’S 3828 IN THE FOURTH QUARTER. AND HERE COMES IOWA STATE AND IOWA STATE WOULD GET THE BALL BACK A CHANCE TO MAKE IT A ONE SCORE GAME. AND ROCCO BACK IS PICKED OFF. MELO DOTSON. AND THEN HE’S GOT GREEN AHEAD OF HIM. AND THAT WAS THE DAGGER A PICK SIX WOULD GIVE KANSAS A LATE 17 POINT LEAD. CYCLONES WOULD SCORE LATE ONE MORE TIME. IT WOULDN’T MATTER THOUGH. IOWA STATE FALLS 4536. SCORE. PROBABLY NOT INDICATIVE OF HOW THE GAME FELT. WE SAID AS I SAID, IOWA STATE HAD TO AVOID BUMPS IN THE ROAD. THIS WAS LIKE A BIG POTHOLE, SHANNON EARHART OUT IN ARROWHEAD AND SHANNON, IN ONE WORD. WOW. JEFF, THIS WAS A DISASTER FOR IOWA STATE. I’M NOT GOING TO SUGARCOAT IT. THEY DID NOT COME INTO THIS GAME LOOKING ALIVE. THEY SLEPT, WALKED THROUGH THE ENTIRE THING. YES. CREDIT TO THEM IS THAT THEY DID STOP KANSAS ON THE OPENING DRIVE, WHICH IS SOMETHING THAT THEY WANTED TO DO AND THEY HAVEN’T DONE IN THE PAST FOUR GAMES. BUT HEY, LIKE DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR JOHN HAYCOCK SAYS THE FIRST DRIVE DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU CAN’T STOP THEM ON ALL OF THE REST. AND THAT VETERAN OFFENSE FROM KANSAS STATE DEFINITELY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE CYCLONES. YES, THE LINEBACKER ROOM IS SUPER DEPLETED AND WE KIND OF KNEW THAT COULD BE A CHALLENGE COMING INTO TODAY. AND WE SAW THEM JUST COMPLETELY DEFLATE, RUN OUT OF GAS. THERE WAS TOTAL CONFUSION AS ONE OF THE BEST DEFENSES IN THE NATION, THE CYCLONES GAVE UP 532 TOTAL YARDS, FIVE TOUCHDOWNS AND DIDN’T FORCE A SINGLE TURNOVER. THE 530 YARDS IS ACTUALLY THE MOST IOWA STATE HAS ALLOWED SINCE 2016. MAYBE THIS IS THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMEL’S BACK. WHEN IT COMES TO THOSE YOUNGER PLAYERS ON THE FIELD PLAYING AGAINST THE VETERAN TEAMS LIKE KANSAS, BUT THERE WAS A DISCONNECT OFFENSIVELY TO ROCCO. BACK THREW FOR 383 YARDS AND THREE TOUCHDOWNS. A SEASON HIGH, BUT QB ONE HAD BLATANT MISSES AND THE WIDEOUTS HAD CRITICAL DROPS. MATT CAMPBELL SAID DETAIL AND PRECISION HAVE TO BE PERFECT AGAINST A TEAM LIKE THIS ONE. WHEN WE TALKED TO HIM POSTGAME, HE SAID IT WASN’T. HE TOOK ACCOUNTABILITY, HIM AND HIS COACHING STAFF, AND HE SAID THAT, YEAH, THAT WAS ON US. WE ASKED HIM IF HE WAS CONCERNED THAT IOWA STATE WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS DOWN THE STRETCH, AND HE WAS VERY CLEAR ON HIS ANSWER. HE SAID, NO, MY KIDS AND MY COACHING STAFF, WE ARE COMPLETELY FINE AND THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN TO US. BUT AGAINST KANSAS HERE TODAY AT ARROWHEAD, IOWA STATE REALLY DID DROP THE BALL. KANSAS, A TWO AND SIX FOOTBALL TEAM NOW THREE AND SIX AS IOWA STATE ALL HOPE LOST FOR THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF. AND EVEN FOR A CONTENTION IN THE BIG 12 TITLE. JEFF NOT HAPPY FOR CYCLONE FANS TODAY, BUT GOOD FOR KANSAS FOR GETTING THE WIND AND PLAYING HERE IN ARROWHEAD STADIUM. I’
