It's official: NASCAR Cup Series race coming to Iowa Speedway in 2024
It's official: The Iowa Speedway is going to host a NASCAR Cup Series race in 2024.
ahead of Tuesday morning's news conference where the announcement was made.
"Today is an exciting day for the state of Iowa and for racing fans across the country, as we welcome NASCAR back to the Hawkeye State," Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds said during the news conference.
It'll be a full weekend of racing June 14-16, 2024, at the Newton track with the
ARCA Menards Series kicking things off that Friday, followed by the NASCAR Xfinity Series on Saturday and the NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday.
Iowa Rep. Jon Dunwell (R-Newton) said the weekend of racing could have an economic impact upwards of $100 million on the area.
Officials said Tuesday that tickets would go on sale at a later date and encouraged fans to visit , where a $25 deposit can be made for "priority access" before tickets go on sale to the public.

Connor Ferguson, editor for , says the event is a long time coming. Ferguson has been a fan of racing since he was a kid.
"It's going to sell out," Ferguson said. "It's going to be massive. I have very little doubt that this isn't going to be something that impresses a lot of people around here."
Ferguson said this is the first time the Cup Series will be in Iowa. He said other major races hosted at the Iowa Speedway have paved the way for something of this size.
"I'd be remiss if I didn't mention IndyCar and Hy-Vee having so much that they've brought into that facility and helped grow it, clean things, maintenance — things that otherwise wouldn't have been fixed at all," Ferguson said.
