KIM REYNOLDS SAYS COVID HOSPITALIZATIONS IN THE 500S IS NOT AND SHE IS TAKING LIGHTLY. GOVERNOR KIM REYNOLDS SAYS SHE IS WATCHING THE SITUATION VERY CLOSELY TELLING US THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH IS IN DAILY COMMUNICATION WITH THE HOSPITALS AND THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE IS REACHING OUT AS WELL. Gov. Kim Reynolds on Thursday said hospitals are telling her they have enough resources to handle the influx of coronavirus patients as the state reported a new record this week.There are currently 530 Iowans hospitalized with the virus, down from a record of 535 reported the previous day.Reynolds said statewide, about 10% of people in Iowa hospitals are there for coronavirus.“Our overall goal, obviously, is to bring that number down, make sure we have the resources, the beds, the ICU's, the vents, to take care of not only the COVID patients, but the other patients that need to utilize the hospitals,” Reynolds said.There are 135 patients listed in intensive care in Iowa, up from 134 the previous day. There were 85 patients admitted into hospitals, down from 90 the previous day. There are 53 patients on ventilators, up from 49 the previous day. The state reports approximately 2,840 available hospital beds, with 375 ICU beds and 753 ventilators available.
