Mary Alley Miller and her husband made the trip from Cedar Rapids to watch the entire weekend. They are diehard Demon Hawks fans, arriving dressed in the team’s gear. “We’ve been fans of arena soccer for a few years,” Alley Miller said. “We just love the pace of the game and the way they play off the walls.” The excitement filled Buccaneer Arena Friday before the matches even began. That excitement and the anticipation of what was to come during the weekend caused some people there to hope the event will spark inspiration in the younger generations. “I think it brings more opportunity for women to be involved in a next level up on soccer,” Boesen said. “I think it brings up an opportunity for kids to play more soccer. We know that soccer is becoming one of the top sports in the Des Moines Metro area, and this is just another extension of it, and it brings more excitement.”
