RIGHT NOW, THERE ARE MORE THAN 1200 PEOPLE IN THE STATE RECOVERING IN A HOSPITAL. 247 PEOPLE ARE IN THE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT. MEANWHILE, IOWA IS REPORTING THE HIGHEST CASES PER 100,000 RESIDENTS. THESE NUMBERS COME FROM THE WASHINGTON POST. IT SHOWS THAT DAILY CASES IN THE STATE ARE UP 39% OVER THE LAST 7 DAYS. YESTERDAY, MORE THAN 4,000 NEW CASES WERE REPORTED. THE STATEWIDE POSITIVITY RATE IS NEARLY 17%. IN ALL, MORE THAN 183,000 IOWANS HAVE TESTED POSITIVE. MORE THAN 107,000 OF THEM HAVE RECOVERED. NEARLY 2,000 IOWANS WITH THE VIRUS HAVE DIED. POLK COUNTY HOSPITALS ARE CARING FOR A RECORD NUMBER OF CORONAVIRUS PATIENTS. THE COUNTY’S HEALTH DEPARTMENT SAYS THEY ARE TREATING 204 PEOPLE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS REPORTED ON MONDAY WITH 191 HOSPITALIZATIONS. POLK COUNTY HEALTH OFFICIALS ARE ALSO REPORTING MORE FRONTLINE WORKERS OUT DUE TO THE VIRUS. The Iowa DPH reported 13 additional COVID-19 deaths for a statewide death toll of 1,985. The website said 1,258 of the state’s deaths involved Iowans with preexisting conditions.Of Iowa’s 99 counties, 95 report 14-day positivity rates above 15%. Only one Iowa county, Ringgold County, reports a 14-day positivity rate below 10%.According to the state’s website, a total of 1,100,076 Iowans received COVID-19 tests. The health department reported 10,735 lab test results in the previous day, with 2,719 positive results. The state receives lab test results from prior days that add to the overall total.Iowa DPH reports 1,279 hospitalizations, of which 247 patients are in intensive care. The Iowa DPH said hospitals admitted 208 new COVID-19 patients in the past 24 hours compared to 217 on Saturday.Iowa’s average reported positivity rate is 23.1% over the last 14 days. Of the state’s confirmed cases, 107,880 Iowans recovered.The Iowa DPH reports 100 COVID-19 outbreaks among long-term care facilities in the state, accounting for 2,918 of Iowa’s total positive cases. COVID-19 outbreaks at long-term care facilities account for 934 of the state’s total deaths.
