A SENATE COMMITTEE APPROVED IT TODAY. THE IOWA SENATE APPROVED BIG CHANGES TO CHILD LABOR LAWS. THE SENATE VOTED 29 TO 18 TO LOOSEN CHILD LABOR LAWS THAT WOULD ALLOW TEENAGERS TO WORK MORE HOURS A DAY AND LATER AT NIGHT, THE PLAN WOULD ALSO ALLOW 16 AND 17 YEAR OLDS TO SERVE ALCOHOL IN RESTAURANTS WITH PARENTS PERMISSION. THE IOWA HOUSE PASSED THAT BILL LAST NIGHT.

The Iowa Senate approved big changes to the state's child labor laws Wednesday afternoon.Senate File 542 passed 29-18 to loosen child labor laws and allow teenagers to work more hours a day and later at night. It also would allow 16- and 17-year-olds to serve alcohol in restaurants with parental permission. The Iowa House passed the bill Tuesday night. It now goes to the governor's desk for final approval.
