糖心vlog's Caucus Closing Arguments: Vivek Ramaswamy
Vivek Ramaswamy, republican presidential candidate. Thank you so much for joining us today. We, we appreciate it. It's good to be on. Well, you know, you're busy. I can tell, you know, you're in the car between campaign events. Uh, you know, we appreciate you making the time. But the last few days, you know, have been difficult with weather. We've seen snowstorms, we've seen freezing temperatures. You know, you had to cancel *** couple events. You even got stuck in ***, in *** snow ditch. You know, tell me *** little bit. How is the weather in the final days impacted campaigning for you? Look for us. I think we've actually gone on to do basically almost all of the events we planned except for *** couple that were just physically impossible to get to. And even those we rescheduled the next day and my wife aura was *** hero and went to those same towns on the big snow days where the other candidates canceled in every one of those cases. I did at least four events on each of those days. And that tells you how we've been running this entire campaign by the end of it I will have done over 390 events here in Iowa. That's more than the rest of the field combined. And I think it's because I respect this process. Iowa goes first for *** reason. It's because it's not mediated just by the social media algorithms or by the super pac advertisements on television, people who take their responsibility here very seriously. And that gives me *** sense of responsibility myself. So when Iowans are showing up, even on those snowy days when they did, I decided to show up as well. And I expect that the effort we've put in here, but also the great opportunity we've had to build relationships with many of these voters. Several of them have come 345 times to each of our events. I think that's gonna pay off on caucus night and I do think it's gonna take *** president who not only has the right policies but the right character and commitment and energy and effort we're able to put in as well. And I believe we brought that in *** way that nobody else has and talking about the weather. I mean, Iowans can brave *** lot, but we're talking about very cold temperatures on, on caucus night to actually get people to turn out. You know, the polls for months have shown Trump with *** commanding lead. There may be some Iowans who think it's *** foregone conclusion that Trump is going to win this and stay home. So what are you doing to motivate your supporters to turn out who may see this as this nomination is wrapped up for Trump. So our voters actually are in particular among the most motivated voters you're gonna find. And so if anything and I it's too bad that it's gonna be *** cold night and I think *** high turnout is always *** good thing. But I think this is gonna be good for our campaign because many of our voters, I can tell you these people will run through walls for us and they are intent to make sure that they make me the next president of the United States. That's what I'm expecting to have happen. And I think we're gonna shatter expectations that night. The media has actually done us *** pretty good favor by setting the expectations quite modestly. And so we're sitting exactly where we wanna be. We're gonna come in and shatter those media expectations. And I think part of that comes from the fact that I'm able to take positions that certain candidates that pretty much any other candidate hasn't been able to take, saying that I will end vaccine liability exemptions for vaccine manufacturers that I'm against the CO2 pipeline that the other candidates refuse to talk about. That's making its way across half the state using eminent domain to say that that's wrong that I'll pardon every peaceful January 6th protester on my first day in office that Ronna mcdaniel needs to step aside after five failed years of leadership of our own party. There's *** reason I'm the only candidate who was able to say these things. It's that basically every politician anymore is *** puppet for their donors. And it's sad that our politics works that way. But in my case, my biggest donor is me and I don't report to them, I report to the people of this country. And I think that that's an attitude that I think the Iowa caucus is set up to reward. And so I think we're gonna do really well here and shock the world on Monday night. Yeah. When you say that you think you are going to shatter expectations on caucus night. What does that mean? What does *** win on caucus night look like for you *** win on caucus night? Is you have the clear expectations that have been set by. I think *** lot of the polls, I think *** lot of these polls are dead set artificial where the media has set those expectations. We are gonna come in significantly in excess of those expectations. And I think I'm the only candidate that's gonna beat expectations that night, that's gonna propel us forward to New Hampshire and then in Nevada and then to the nomination from there. So when you're, when you're gauging that, if you're not looking at the polls, what gives you that confidence? I mean, is it just your opinion and what you're seeing, you know, are you looking at what other, *** lot of hard data, *** lot of hard data internally in our campaign. One of the things that we have gained *** deep understanding of is who our actual target voter is. And *** lot of our voters are voters who share the America first values, but who haven't been traditionally polled or even participated in *** caucus before. So we expect *** lot of first time caucus goers to come out and support me on Monday night. And I think that's going to create *** tidal wave that the media doesn't see coming. So I like exactly where we sit where the expectations have been set. I, uh, I'm pleased with that and all I'll say is I'm looking forward to *** major surprise on Monday night and our team is excited for it and I think we'll have *** lot to celebrate by the end of that night. And another thing that makes you unique in this process is you're the only candidate that has done the full grassley tour stopping in all 99 counties twice over. Uh, why, why did you do that and why? I mean, you're making 4567 stops *** day in order to accomplish that. Uh, and, and beyond after you accomplish that, why do that? Well, look, I think that's showing respect to this process. This is why the Iowa caucus goes first is the chance to meet people in person. That's been my favorite part of the campaign. I get my energy from *** lot of these patriots who come to these events because they care about this country every bit as much as I do. They're coming to these events for the same reason that I'm running for us president. We care about the future of our country. And so I think that's far more authentic than *** lot of the scripted media interviews or television commercials I enjoy. And I also think that's what this process is made for. That's why Iowa goes first. And so I didn't set out to do the double grassley. It just so happened that we visited every one of the 99 counties at least twice, many of them, three or four or five times as well. We've done more events than literally all of the other candidates combined. Now, that's also how I expect to lead this country. I built my businesses the same way. I went to school the same way my parents taught me growing up that how you spell luck is work. And that's worked for me in life. It's working for us in this campaign and it's also the effort this country deserves. This country is in trouble right now. We're in the middle of *** war for the future of our country. And I think what we need *** command is *** commander in chief who has the energy to really bring *** full level of effort on every aspect of this job. And so if these Iowans are coming out to see me even on snowy days, like we've had over the last number of days, over the last week, you know what I'm gonna show up to see them as well. I think that's *** sign of respect to these voters, sign of respect to the Iowa caucus. And my hope is that will actually be rewarded on caucus night. I think it will of the undecided Iowans that I talked to that mention you as someone they're considering most of them. Tell me that they are between you and Donald Trump. Why should those Iowans caucus for you and not Donald Trump when they know what they would get with Donald Trump based off of his first term. So I'm taking the America first agenda further than Donald Trump did. And I do think it's going to take *** leader with fresh legs to reach and lead the next generation of Americans who has lost and hungry for direction and purpose. And I think I can revive patriotism and our shared national values in that next generation, better than anybody else in this race including Donald Trump. Now, I'll also say something that saddens me to say, but it's the truth. This system has made clear that they will not let Donald J Trump get anywhere near that White House. These people will stop at nothing and it increasingly looks like nothing to keep Donald Trump away from power. And so I have *** special responsibility to make sure we take our America first movement to the next level. I think the system wants to narrow this down to *** two horse race between Donald Trump and *** puppet who they can control in the spring or early summer. Eliminate Trump from contention and then effectively trod in their puppet into the White House and I refuse to be *** passive bystander watching that happen to the contrary, I'm in this race and I'm telling voters here because it's the truth. If you want to save this country and save Donald Trump, I'm asking you to vote for me, our America first movement. It did not begin in 2016. It started in 1776 and we owe it to our founding fathers and to this country to take this another 250 years forward and then summon, that's what I'm doing in this race. And I'm confident that we're going to convince the voters of this state that that's the right way to go. I believe I'm the future of America first. I believe that I'm able to take this to the level and we might as well start chasing our future now or else we're not going to have one. So I respect the heck out of Donald Trump, no doubt about it. I've defended him more than anybody else against these unjust persecutions and prosecutions. But what they're doing to him is wrong yet this movement cannot end with him. So we love the man because he got this fight started. But now it is our job and my duty to actually finish it. And that's what I'm gonna do to the Iowans who are still undecided and who they plan to caucus for in 30 seconds or less. What's your message to them on why they should caucus for you? Look, I think we're in the middle of *** war for the future of our country. *** war between those who love this country and those who hate this country and what we stand for. And I think now more than ever we need *** commander in chief who's going to lead us to victory in that war. That's gonna take somebody who isn't bought and paid for. And I think it's gonna take somebody with fresh legs from the next generation to reach and lead that next generation of Americans. I'm *** businessman, I'm not *** politician and more than anybody else. If you want somebody who's gonna get in there and gut the deep state and gut that bureaucracy, I'm gonna be the person who gets that job done while also reuniting our nation. So if that's what you care about, that's what I can deliver and I can do that in *** way that actually takes our country forward to the next level. Abe Ramaswami. Thank you. So much for joining us. We appreciate it. Thank you.
